excellent book excellent value for money
I found this book very informative, packed with very usefull information covering allmost all aspects of body work relating to manufacture, restoration, fabrication and rebuilding of classic vehicles or even building one from scratch.excellent book recommended for novice or professionals alike. This book gives the reader an insight into repairing, shaping and manufacture of steel/alloy body panels using different tools and machines in order to achieve a satisfactory end result.Obviously the only way to carry out any practical task is to do so with ones hands and available tools/machines,but this book read/refered to will go a long way to help/guide you in order to carry out the task in the correct manner. It also gives an insight into the tools required, proceedures in order for the reader to obtain the same for there own projects/work.

A sensible buy for the budding sheet metal enthusiast
I've been doing evening classes at South Leeds College recently on automotive welding/metal fabrication and I bought this to accompany my studies. I found it very useful and informative and I would say that if you only buy one book on this subject this is the one to go for. It doesn't dwell on the tools you'll need so much, like some other books do, but gets right on with the advice and techniques for carrying out sheet metal body repairs from basic to quite advanced levels.

great book
very comprehensive and in depth coverage of metalworking/panelbeating techniques and materials.my only regret is that i used amazon to buy it. the only reason was convenience on this occasion, otherwise i keep amazon purchases to an absolute minimum and try to find things wherever else i can. monopolies are extremely unhealthy for literally everyone except the few stakeholders who are raking it in at the expense of smaller businesses.

A really good starter book.
A good book for the beginner. Clear and well illustrated. I gave it 4 stars, it should be 5 really, I just wanted it longer with more projects

Basic skills
Reminded me of things I had forgotten, and I picked up useful tips on how to rectify mistakes. As well as finding the book very informative.

this is an absolute must if you want to know ...
this is an absolute must if you want to know how to produce double curvature work all the methods are there concerning shrinking and stretching sheetmetal. I am a sheetmetal worker by trade so know all the info in the book is relevant I purchased the book to brush up on my panel beating skills as panel beating is an art in its self. I have worked mainly from engineering drawings in a mass production enviroment where the patterns and templates are similar in some cases However the book concerntrates in detail in practicing hand skills in shaping the metal by hand which indeed takes alot of practice as stated in the book but it shows you how to do it from basic to avanced.

Excellent
Good example of when the Americans do something right they do it so well. Great book to keep in your library. Very difficult to walk past and not pick up. Working my way through the series.

Great book!
Excellent book for someone like me who doesn't know much about building aluminium car bodies but really wants to have a go at it! Having said that, Ed Barr seems to be a real expert and has put everything he knows about the subject into this book, so while I'm at starter level, I think it would be an excellent reference for anybody who does this sort of work. Over 300 pages - loads of photos.
