Easy to install, worked perfectly
Man, have Ballasts' increased in price. Bought this one as it was the least expensive I could find, still cheaper than replacing the entire fixture.Took less than 15 minutes to install... these used to be less than $10; but everyhing has gone up in price.Would buy again whenever I need another Ballast.Does the job for me -- running 2 T8 bulbs, 4 foot

This appears to be a good product but was purchased for backup on an old light.
All good. Received in good time. Packed securely. Ballasts are unusually small these days. Bought for backup.

is it real...?
I can't really tell whether this is an authentic Philips product. I can tell that the product listing and the label on the listing photo say "Philips" and "NEMA Premium". The product delivered says neither of those things. The product delivered is not packaged with an instruction sheet — they are normally pretty useless, but seem always to be included with electrical parts to be installed. The pigtail wires are not conventionally marked (i.e. wire type and gauge) — but I'm not certain that is a requirement for preattached and fixed wires.Anyway, it is an electronic ballast of some kind, made by somebody. It seems to be silent. It seems to work — in a 50degF shop directly after installation it took 20 minutes to warm up a pair of 32w T8 fluorescents to something close to normal brightness, but on subsequent days they seem to come on pretty close to full brightness pretty quickly. Hope it keeps working — wiring inside a ceiling fixture is rather a pain for us DIY electricians.

Works Great, With A Catch
If you are using LED bulbs (2), you must get T8 and only T8. T12/T8 won't work in this ballast.I bought this ballast to replace the one in my aquarium light hood. I decided to get LED bulbs for the fish tank. I had an LED and a flourescent tube when I used it for my bearded dragons, so it worked with LEDs, right? I installed two GE Universal Color Select bulbs and they worked great, for a few days. Then one went out. I checked and the bulb was good. The other bulb didn't light in the slot, either. In comes this ballast. I installed it and the bulbs. I turned it on and only one bulb worked. Huh? I figured that maybe the tombstones for that side were bad, so I replaced them. Both bulbs worked for a few days and then the other bulb went out. Then I noticed that it only worked with the bulb that was installed first. I know, weird.I called GE and spoke to a tech. He said they never tested this ballast with their LED bulbs. He looked it up and found the problem. The Universal bulbs are meant for T12/T8 ballasts (they accept both). This ballast only accepts T8 LED bulbs. It doesn't matter with fourescents, you can use either, as I have in the past with the same ballast model. I had to get the GE Replacement LED bulbs because they were strictly for T8 ballasts.I returned the bulbs to Lowes and got the Replacements and they work!

Amazing Replacement!
It took me longer to remove the plastic caps from the bulb holders than to install this item. This is the second time in several months that I've had to replace my old ballast. I've decided to purchase this item again, since it works better than what was first installed by an electrician. The electrician should have used this brand.Came in simple shrink wrap plastic with no box, and it didn't need any fancy packaging. As far as I'm concerned, they could have left off the thin plastic. No connectors and no screws 'cos you're going to use your own. So easy to install, The Wife could have done it. :)Quick startup, absolutely quiet, and a perfect replacement. Highly recommend and will buy again when my next old ballast fails. I've two more old ones.

Good replacement
Replaced two flourescent ballasts that were obsolete with these. Easy change out, not expensive, and solved replacing the whole fixture. Been in use a couple of months with no issues, bulbs immediately come on.
