Fun Game, Compact
My husband is an avid tabletop gamer, so we have played over 200 different games over the years. We also have a regular game night with my parents each week. Between the four of us, we have a wide variety of preferences on games we enjoyed. We all enjoyed this one.It is a pretty straightforward game to play that uses some familiar mechanics (like a tableau reminiscent of solitaire, and some Uno and Go Fish-esque mechanics) so those are easy to learn. However, it is a few step up from those simpler games as you have the option of several different actions each turn and several different way to earn points. And, despite there being a bit of a luck-of-the-draw component, it was an even game - no one had such terrible luck that they were far behind the others. The winner had 19 points and the other three had 15, 15, and 14.Probably one of my favorite features is it is a compact game (about the width of two deck of cards and a little thicker), so it's a good game to travel with.

Small Footprint
I'm always looking for more games that are good for travel, but aren't UNO. It can be hard to take a game with lots of parts or games that take an excess amount of table space to play. This fits those components, for sure. The art and graphics are also really pretty, so an added bonus. There's a lot going on in this game, so I think I need to play it again to decide if I'm going to really like it. I found it to be a lot going on when trying to understand it and play through the first time, but that's not all bad. There is some strategy and some luck in the components, and played overall pretty well balanced. I do think I'll try to add it to my travel rotation for some additional plays!

Fun and nice looking light game
I really liked the art on these cards. The images and colors were both nice to look at and easy to tell apart. The game itself was pretty easy to pick up but had a nice level of strategy involved. I also liked the player interaction (unlike some of the games that end up being either everyone playing solitaire or running away with the game no matter what other players do).I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun family game or a light strategy card game.

Attractive, enjoyable light card game
NSG's other games have been good, and Inheritors is a worthy addition, in my opinion. It's been compared to Lost Cities, and that's certainly apt, in how you're deciding what cards to keep out of an awareness of how they might benefit others and so forth. It's not as streamlined, certainly, which if you're like me and want a little more complexity, additional paths to victory, etc. is a good thing.Mostly, you're trying to use discard actions to draw from a deck or to draft from a shared market, with the goal of building up a tableau. As you get the hang of it, you start intentionally manipulating the market, making longer term plans, trying to fool other people by doing something to convey something other than what you're really intending, etc.I'm impressed with everything it makes possible in such a small box -- speaking of which, it does have a lot of cards, and spreads out a bit in action. It's all really packed in there, so you're not going to sleeve these puppies and still fit them in the box, if you had such a thing in mind.It might have been nice for some of the different card types to have different backs, to make sorting them easier and make it less likely to accidentally combine any of them in where they shouldn't be shuffled. Not much of a problem though with a small amount of organization.Overall, I own and have played a huge number of board games, and am pleased to include this in their number, for how gorgeous, portable, and enjoyable it is.

Great card game! Unique feel, great player interaction, good strategic decisions
I played this a few times with my work game group, and we tend to skew towards medium to heavy strategy games, but often break it up with "lighter" stuff. Inheritors still has a little bit of a learning curve and several minutes of rules before starting, but within a few rounds the rules are very memorable and it's easy to just focus on your decisions, which I appreciate. At a basic level you're just trying to get cards for each of your sets and play them in order, but the special Advocate cards add a very cool layer of interaction and timing that are really what define this game. You probably won't play optimally you first time as you feel out some of the strategy, but our second play was much more interesting (and much quicker at about 20-30 minutes). I also like that the clan leaders and honors change from game to game, making each play feel a bit different. I was mostly worried about the 'Spy' action as I generally don't enjoy attacking/stealing games, but it actually works well here as a deterrent to just grabbing all the cards you need from the market. Since everyone can see which market cards you take, the Spy adds a nice strategic twist rather than just being mean. Overall, this was not on my radar but I'm glad I picked it up - it's a fun mid-weight card game that plays quick, allows for some interesting decisions every turn, and offers some really enjoyable player interaction. Looking forward to more plays and introducing others to this.
