Works great! Looks good on the countertop
This is s great little burner! Excellent value. Compared to its "familiar 'trusted' brand competition, the Imusa outperforms by all metrixs: The cast iron covering (welded to base) distributes the heat evenly compared to the old coils; it heats up fast, and the extra wattage (1200) is a significant step up from the old 1000. It boils water in a big pot, and simmered chicken consomme, poached 2 eggs, kept all the food piping hot. No impatient "hangry" chef :) The cast iron on black and compact design looks great on the countertop (had to stow my old burner, it looked like a garage item). Elevated feet protect your countertops. One caveat: the entire unit does get hot, even the casing. Use hot plates to move it, keep one handy.

Buy this one. It's great. 2 years and going strong.
I've got a very small apartment, no kitchen to speak of so having a double burner hot plate was a must. After carefully reading through reviews and keeping a budget in mind, I decided on this one. It did not disappoint. I've had this Imusa for damn near two years and it still works perfectly well with high usage. It DOES occasionally shut itself off but that usually only happens when both burners are turned to full heat and will reset if you give it a few minutes. To be clear, I do meal prep two or three times per week. Often making large portions of food and snacks, this thing has been a friggin rock star for my non-kitchen kitchen. I've had this one for two Christmases now, it's worth every penny and I will be buying again when this one eventually conks out. Easy to clean and store, it's a great purchase.

It's cheap and worked well for me
My use is "off label" I bought it to heat a small pan of blueing salts. At full power the unit got the molten salts hot enough to produce a uniform dark blue. My lab hot plate melted the salts in the pan but did not reach blueing temperature. It has enough power to boil a small pan of water and is very sturdy. The smooth surface heated my blueing evenly.

"Only" $20, but not worth the money
Purchased on March 30th, as a prime member received the next day, which is great. Problem is as of August 3rd, it no longer works. Wont turn on at all. Tried all the troubleshooting to no avail. Tried contacting IMUSA directly, sent an email on 8/4/24 and as of today 8/20/24 they have not responded. Tried calling, but also a waste of time. Tried contacting Amazon customer service, and the bot is basically telling I'm S.O.L. That because its past 30days it's no longer Amazon's responsibility to help, and to contact IMUSA, which has gotten me no where. So. Moral of this post, don't waste your money. I know it's "only $20", but not worth the waste it creates, ending us as part of a landfill Spend that $20 else where.

Works very well, until it doesn't.
Until it shorted out today, I was very satisfied with this hotplate. It can boil a pot of water no problem (tho you have to remember the right side is the more powerful one) and the left side is good for simmering. For the price it's very good, tho like burning out in three months knocked off two stars. I think I'll prolly just get the single burner next time cuz if it's not that reliable then I'd rather waste $15 than $30. It's just that most hot plates can't boil that makes this stand out. Like the only time I noticed it took a while to cook something is with boiling, but that's too be expected. Aunno if you want a hotplate that can boil AND will last more than three months uhhh I guess look elsewhere? You get wha'cha pay for I suppose.
