Helping Hands Soldering Station, Lytool Third Hand Soldering Tool

I was wondering whether this helping hand devise would live up to its promises. I am disabled and have very painful and weak hands and have been finding soldering very difficult, hence the purchase. The device arrived in a sturdy box, it had a little book with 2 pages of instructions per language, not that it was ever going to be difficult to put together. The items to be put together were all nicely packed to protect them, and it took me only 10 minutes to put together. The crocodile clips have rubber shrunk wrapped onto them to protect the items being held, which works well, the bendy arms all hold well and the position they are put at is where they stay, which is a must in my book. The light is very good and has 3 colours, very white, slight warm (which I like most) and very warm which is easy on your eyes at the end of the day. Light intensity is variable over a wide range and gives all the light you will ever need. The magnifying glass is of good quality and I found it to give enough magnification to see even very small details, I was pleased that it did what it should do unlike many lenses that promise but never deliver. I would have liked the lens to have been of a larger diameter, maybe 4 cm, but that is just my preference, it still does it's job very well. An improvement to the design would be a ball joint from the magnifying glass to its arm, just to make placing of the lens a little bit easier, it's not hard but for my hands it would be of some help, for most people I don't see it as a problem. The unit came with 2 spare Croc clips that was a nice touch. Conclusion; A very sturdy, and useful helping hand, it has made a significant improvement to my soldering and it lives up to its hype. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a helping hand while soldering or indeed any other craft pursuit etc. The alterations to the device I have suggested are all down to personal preference, if that was taken out of the equation this would be perfect. I give this a score of 9.9 out of 10, I love it.

Bought this extra hands to help with my model making kits easy to build together really well made and strong comes with screwdriver to build it together this holds my pieces very delicately because of the soft rubber grips the magnifying glass is very powerful and really helps with close up jobs and with having a light that is very bright make the job a lot easier really good price so very happy thanks

Fantastic product! Holds the PCB really well and the light and magnifying glass really help with those tricky jobs. Very easy to put together too. Would recommend for anyone doing intricate PCB work.

the whole thing is good, but the threads in the arms are bad, i had to use slightly thicker screws on three arms, otherwise they would not hold to the base

Provides extra set of hands for both soldering and modelling. Constructed from metal not plastic make it a very robust product. I have had similar items in the past which have cost more and have had plastic parts which did not last. The base plate is also heavy enough to provide stability. Arms are very manouvarable and hold their position even when holding a reasonable weight. Rubber grips on crocodile clips protect item being held from scratches Magnifying glass has a reasonable magnification. Th built-in variable brightness light is great for illuminating models when painting

Like others have mentioned the screws are too short/the thread is too deep to screw the arms in when combined with the base plate and feet. It's a shame because it looks like it would be decent quality if I could only assemble it but, as is, its junk.

Really like this helping hand system. The arms bend smoothly and hold their position really well. The base is sturdy and has a fiar bit of weight to it keeping it stable while you work on things. The magnifying glass is clear and works very well, while the LED ring light provides good illumination. You can select between 3 different LED colours from Warm to White, but most people will probably stick with the white light. You have to assemble it, but it comes with a little screw driver and that is all that is required. Also came with a couple of spare crocodile clips too which was nice.

Self-assembly 4-croc-clip plus magnifying-lamp 'Helping Hands'; but the hopeless-quality non-grip thread in 4 out of 5 goose-neck arms means that the goose-necks don't screw tightly to the base, just wobble instead. Having fixed *that*, the flexibility of the goose-necks is poor: they don't hold their position, and spring back to wrong angle. The USB-A-powered lamp and magnifier are the best features of this poor-quality-assurance product ..Avoid!

As a longtime tech this device is a great aid to securing the ever-shrinking boards and material for soldering. The base is heavy enough to keep it stable and weight can be added by simply gluing some heavy washer on to the bottom. Adding a magnet to the bottom to the cup will help keep things in place. The flexible arms are sturdy enough to support most things including cables and small boards. Not necessarily an everyday use tool but very handy when needed.

It works really well and is great for the price. I use it for lots of things. I didn't know how useful a magnifying lense and alligator holders could be. I don't do much soldering but I have used it for soldering and it worked well and held up mechanically. It's in storage for now but I'll be taking it out of storage when it's time to really build out my SBC-based prototype. Thanks.

Looked pretty good. Unfortunately it came broken. Didn't work to assemble it correctly.

Habe die Löthilfe seid ein paar Tagen im Einsatz. Grundsätzlich funktioniert sie gut. Die Klemmen sind ummantelt und beschädigen auch kleine Kabel nicht. Die Basis ist schwer genug. Auch das Licht mit Lupe funktioniert einwandfrei - einziger Nachteil: eine Klemme ließ sich nicht an der Basis festschrauben. Ich habe sie einfach geklebt, alternativ gibt der Hersteller auch an, das Problem ab 2025 gelöst zu haben.
