Product Description After the wildest party night of their lives, two mismatched strangers, Jack (Ashton Kutcher) and Joy (Cameron Diaz), wake up in Vegas to discover they not only got lucky " they got married! .com What Happens in Vegas is a comedy waiting to happen. It takes an old premise (drunk strangers regretting their decision to get married in Las Vegas) and adds in a dilemma (a $3 million slot machine win) that could've been easily resolved. But then again, there would've been no movie if the unhappily wedded couple figured out that splitting the money in half and getting their marriage annulled would've been quick and effective. Cameron Diaz plays uptight clean-freak Joy, who has just been dumped by her fiance. Ashton Kutcher is Jack, a slacker furniture maker who has been fired--by his own dad. Each goes to Vegas to let off some steam. And while they have nothing in common (except being exceptionally good looking) they make out, get married, and fight over the money Jack wins with Joy's quarter. Instead of letting the couple get divorced, a judge sentences the odd couple to half a year of marriage. What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas, but extends into New York where Jack and Joy live. Both actors have fared well in comedies, especially Diaz in My Best Friend's Wedding. And while Kutcher still has to live down Dude, Where's My Car?, he showed a lot of comedic flair and charm in A Lot Like Love. But the two face an uphill battle here with inane dialogue and a premise that not only is unbelievable, but unlikeable. The two are so incompatible (and immature) they can't even control bathroom time and, in Jack's case, his bladder. --Jae-Ha Kim Beyond What Happens in Vegas on DVD 27 Dresses on DVD Juno on DVD Dodgeball A True Underdog Story on DVD Stills from What Happens in Vegas (Click for larger image)

Not Quite What You Think...
Who hasn't heard the phrase "What happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas"? Well, this film doesn't stick quite to that phrase despite its title being the first half of it. It brings what happens in Vegas to New York. Meeting thanks to a hotel screw-up, Joy McNally, played by Cameron Diaz, Jack Fuller, played by Ashton Kutcher, Toni "Tipper" Saxson, played by Lake Bell, and Jeffrey "Hater" Lewis, played by Rob Corddry, meet up and decide to have some fun together. Within the drunken debauchery, Joy and Jack, the film's main characters, end up married and regret it during their "hangovers" the next morning. In an attempt to get an amicable divorce, they wind up fighting over a three million jackpot Jack won with a quarter Joy gave him. A judge back in New York, played by Dennis Miller, decides that, before he will consider the idea of a divorce and the splitting of the "marital assets", the couple has to try to make their marriage work, with a marriage counselor, played by Queen Latifah. From there, hijinks ensue as each tries to outdo the other, along with their totally biased friends, "Tipper" and "Hater", so they can keep the full jackpot. Okay, legal inaccuracies aside, and this film has more of those than an episode of Law and Order, this was pretty good. All the characters were well cast and quite funny, though I'd have liked to see more of Lake Bell as she was my favorite...how'd her character get the nickname "Tipper" anyway? I think the actors were actually drunk for some of the wild Vegas scenes and I do wish the crew had gotten shots of the real-life hangovers the next day. Overall, the premise is amusing (surely it's happened in real life at one of those Vegas wedding chapels), the jokes are never overdone and the film instead lets the situation bring out the funny as a good comedy should. Despite me not being a big fan of either lead and knowing even less about them, I thought they were worth watching. And I was pleasantly surprised to see Dennis Farina in this film. I didn't know he did comedy...he did pretty well here. I'll just end things now by stamping my positive recommendations onto the film. Enjoy.

Why is this one of my favorite rom-coms?
I really have to level with you. I love a good love story. And I love a laugh-inducing comedy. Out of the plethora of movies that check those boxes, why is this one of my favorites? I don't even like Las Vegas or dream of winning $3 million. I don't particularly relate to either of the main characters and their life situations. The premise as other reviewers mention is highly implausible. AND YET. It's so gosh darn enjoyable to watch. There are parts of this movie in particular that I found truly funny, not just slap-stick or run of the mill dumb comedy antics. And the movie turns out to have real heart in it. I enjoyed watching these two characters fall for each other, and the lessons they learned along the way. Dare I say that the storyline tickles me?! YES! It does indeed! Each time I watch it. So yes! This is a rom-com! And yes! It is unrealistic! But for me, it is a truly funny movie that makes me smile all the way to my toes. Thank you to Las Vegas, the actors, and the movie gods for making this film happen! You've got my sincere thanks.

Charming Rom-Com
My husband and I both liked this movie. The characters have great chemistry and it was just a charming movie. It was great for a romantic comedy on a night in. It made me laugh and it also made me cry which makes a great movie for me.
