I jut off a 1/2 inch steel rod with this. Worked nice and easy.

Seriously outstanding for the price.
Excellent grooving tool, slightly different than the model pictured as it has a curved lower edge that slopes down towards the front, this is a REALLY good feature as adds additional support to cutting edge.Limited maximum depth of cut off, around 25mm ( 1" ) but that's to be expected.The supplied cutting insert were also worked perfectly well, not sure about how long they'll last but again at this price that'll be a lot of grooves cut.Definitely worth the money.

Not too shabby
I like these. I just wish id remember the depth of cut before I jam and break the holder. The inserts are pretty good. I put the lathe on auto pilot at the lowest feed rate and it cut right through.

Pretty happy with this
It's tiny and you can snap the bit if you are clumsy in feeding (I sometimes feel that way). It's only 2mm wide, so there's not a lot of material (for strength).......but then again, you only lose 2mm from the piece being cut (which is economical).I've found that it does well if the cut is lubricated and you feed it steadily. And, you get ~22 cutting surfaces....so you have a chance to learn how to use it. Feeding smoothly with oil it cuts like a knife thru butter on 12L14 steel.If you chip or break the tip and get a nasty thumping cut.....you'll need to change the bit.

Half the ones I have tried weren't that great. This one has good rigidity and works perfectly. I did have to grind down the height a couple thousands to make it line up right on my mini lathe, but not the worst thing ever.

It will destroy itself in 5 minutes
The inserts are extremely brittle and break very quickly even in easy to cut material with correct setup. Since the holder is not hardened, when the inserts break, they destroy the insert seat and it becomes unusable. This is the worst set of inserts and holder Ever experienced in using maybe 50 different insert tool products. Truly unusable and a waste of time.
