Really like this game, I got this as I really approve of educational games. It can be hard sometimes sitting down with my son and trying to do reading and spelling with him as he quite often gets frustrated so I love games like this as it's fun but he's learning at the same time. This game is good fun for all ages too, something we can really enjoy. Its relatively easy to get your head around. It took a while but now we know and its really enjoyable. Definitely recommend.

This is a real brain boggled of a game. In a nutshell you have to make as many different words as you can using the colours on the dice and the jumbled letters on the card. It sounds easy but racing against the countdown timer, that definitely seems faulty as I never have enough time, and racing against other players makes it a mad panic. Playing against my children is a terrible situation to be in, they all expect me to win every time but the pressure gets me and I find my 11 year old often beats me. It’s awful.This is such a good game for the family, we have even had a parent off and I’ve played my wife, which didn’t go well but the kids loved the battle. Honestly it’s a good game to get the blood pumping.

Quality word game which was great fun for our family of 4.Perfect for rainy days or to take with you travelling. Fantastic value for money at £14.99 and well executed. Easy to follow and get everyone engaged once the adults have the gist! Easy to read.Recommend.

In the box there is: 48 Game Cards, 5 Wooden Dice, 1 Timer, 6 Pencils, A Notepad, and an Instruction Manual.Basically what you have to do is roll the dice and what ever coloured spots come up you have to make words containing those coloured letters - except when a while comes up and that dice is out of the game. You need to make 3, 4 and 5 letter words and the one with the most points at the end of the rounds wins.I played this with my 12 year old and to be totally honest it is quite difficult as you are spending most of your time trying to co-ordinate the colours to the letters, also the letter are all different ways round so it can be quite challenging. My 12 year old isn't very good at spelling so this will certainly help him build up his vocabulary and ability to spell smaller words. Great game from Skillsmatic and travelable too as its only in a small box.

Again, Skillmatics really don't do instructions very well. It's unclear from the instructions in the box how to play this and it's basically Boggle but with unnecessary extra steps.From what I can gather, you roll four or five dice and the coloured dots on them correspond to the coloured areas of the game card (there are 48 circular game cards you use, one at a time). You then have however long the timer is to create three and four-letter words using the letters on the game card, but only those corresponding to the colours on the dice. And you can only use a letter on a coloured space as many times as you get it with your dice roll...or something. I think if you only roll one green, for example, you can only use a green letter once in a word. But if you roll two greens, you can use two green letters. I don't really know and my brain hurts a bit.It's needlessly complicated and we spent far more time trying to figure out the poorly explained rules (believe me, they are worse than my explanation) than actually playing the game. If you just play it like Boggle, without the dice, it's a lot easier - just remove the Boggle rule that says letters have to be touching to make a word.It gets three stars because we were able to adapt it but I certainly wouldn't fork out for what is essentially an overly complicated game of Boggle.

I'm a big fan of kid's games that are entertaining but educational at the same time.It feels like you're able to have fun and be productive at the same time.The fact that the letters are colour coded and you have to roll the dice, allows a bit of suspense and interaction. This helps to keep the kids interested.Everything is provided in the game, including a timer and notepads.I would say that this is quite a complex game and really is only targeted to older kids who want to improve their spelling. It is not suitable for 8 year olds, as the game suggests.

I am always a fan of a game if it can help practice a skill, or teach you something. This game fulfills the first requirement. We are a homeschool family and we use this to practice our spelling skills . You basically get five dice and you have to roll them. You have a game board in front of you with a whole bunch of letters. The letters have to correspond with the dice rolled and you have to quickly make a whole bunch of words. This is good for memorization skills. It’s good for me to see where my kids are when it comes to how well they spell. it’s a really quick play game. For us we play for about 15 to 30 minutes. The kids love it and we have a lot of fun with it. It is for ages eight and up. It is super fun to play in a group because you really do have to think fast.

Really good game for all age groups

Game play is similar to Boggle, but having to match specific colors makes it more challenging. Using cards instead of a grid of dice eliminates the noise of shaking a lot of dice and it takes up less space. Playing word games with good opponents is a good way to expand your vocabulary.

The basic idea is similar to Boggle. Instead of a grid of independently-rolled letter dice, you have a deck of cards that each have a predetermined grid of letters on them. More variability is added back in by rolling a set of 5 dice to decide which letters from the card you can use; a die may allow you to use any letter, or may only allow using a letter with a particular color background. (There are a few other differences that adapt the game to this method of randomizing, but it's easy to learn and the included instructions are reasonably clear.)The set includes everything you need to play, including a notepad and pencils. Of course you use any paper and writing instrument - or various alternatives if you don't want to constantly throw away slips of paper - but regardless it's nice that you could open the box and start playing with no other materials at all on hand.I don't like when games have a rule or mechanic that depends on color and color alone, because this can exclude colorblind players. This game doesn't entirely get a pass on that front - they could've combined shape or some amount of pattern with the color in the letter backgrounds and on the dice, and this is why I didn't give it a 5-star rating. That said, as color-dependency issues go, this one isn't as bad as a lot I've seen lately. They use just three colors (plus white), and it's a combination that most players will probably be able to distinguish - at least if you play in good light. If you or one of your players do happen to be unable to reliably distinguish the three colors, it probably would be hard to adapt this set, though.More generally, the game is somewhat vision dependent as all players need to be able to see the card without getting in each others' way. The letters are fairly large and clearly printed, but it's certainly not going to work for everyone without adaptation. Taking pictures of the card for individual players is a strategy that may help (if you have smartphones or similar on hand).
