It works great! No more neck and body twisting for this old guy.
Great backup camera with no lag. It took a friend 2 hours to install. Would take 30 min if he did it again. Had to drill a hole to get wire from camera into cab of car. Hole is hidden. All the wire is hidden in trim with the exception of wire to monitor. Attached to windshield as vinyl would not stick. Overall very pleased with the outcome with quality product at a great price. I

Clear camera and super easy to hook up
The screen is a perfect size and it is super clear. We added this to a 2001 Cadillac DHS and it works great with the lighter plug. Love the on/off button on the plug. Would love LEDs on the camera when backing up at night, but it’s pretty good right behind the car with the backlights.

Some things to consider
Was looking to get a backup camera for my truck because it has a shell on it and it can be difficult to see whats behind it, especially at night. I ended up getting a second one for my car. Overall, I think this product is great and is pretty easy to install and would be for most people but there are a few things to consider before doing this.First, my truck has a 6 foot bed with a regular two door cab, no extension. There was enough space between the back of the plate and the bumper to run the camera wire behind the plate but in front of the bumper. This was important because if I would have run the cable on top of the bumper, any time I opened the tailgate, it would hit the wire and I imagine damage it over time. For the car, I had to be creative. I did not want to drill a hole in the body so I ended up drilling a hole in the licence plate bulb housing and running the wire into the trunk that way. So determine how you can run the wire before purchasing this product. Any product with a wire will need to be considered for this.Second, consider where you are going to run the wire and mount the screen before hand. I think this system will fit most vehicles without issue but it may not be long enough for something like an extended suburban or long bed, extended cab truck. This fit my trunk with running the wire under the truck, up the drivers side, thru the firewall, and mounted the screen on the left corner of the dashboard. There was about 1 or 2 feet extra of wire. For the car, I ran the wire in the trunk, along the inside of the passenger side of the car and have the screen mounted above the radio on the dash. I had about 8 to 10 feet extra wire. My car would be considered a mid-size sedan.Third, the camera is a normal angle, not wide angle. What this means is that it will give you the view from the back out about to the edge of the vehicle. You will not get much more then that. It's not an issue for me but if you use the camera to take the place of looking around to make sure there is no on coming traffic, you might not see that or person that was standing a few feet away from the vehicle on either side if they where close to the vehicle.Fourth, I didn't consider this difficult to install but I have installed stuff like this before. If you unpack and unwind the wires and lay it out before installing, it goes pretty easy. You don't really need any special tools as you can tuck the wires under interior trim without dissembling anything or much.Last, I noticed some noise on the screen for the car. This can happen from interference from the radio and even from LED bulbs. What noise looks like is little black lines that run horizontally on the image. It's not an issue with the screen as I tested the system before I installed it to make sure everything was working and there was no noise. It is noticeable but not annoying or degrading to the image to the extent you cannot tell what you are looking at.It has a feature to be able to hook the camera up to a switch, that is provided, or to come on when the reverse lights are on. I hooked both mine to the lights but I think you can hook it up both ways if you wanted. Why would you want the camera on when you not backing up? I thought about it and imagine you had a bunch of stuff in the back on your vehicle so you couldn't use your review mirror. You could turn the camera on and be able to see what is behind you. The night vision on the camera is great also. There are built in lights that will illuminate if it is really dark. The picture quality is good, it is not high definition. The guide lines are not active, as in they do not move as you turn. There are other systems that have this but you have to purchase a radio and a camera system to get ones that do. The tape that comes on the mount for the screen is good quality and worked without issue on my truck. I had to replaced the tape with stronger tape on my car since the dash is more curved. There is also a mount that you can get and have the screen mounted by suction on the windshield. The company will proved this, I think, free of charge if needed. I am happy I got this product and think its a great price too.

Great. Almost
The Amtifo A23 has a “just right size” screen which can be placed in many positions. I chose the location between the dash display and the Driver’s door on my Pontiac 2006 G6 4D. This position does not interfere with the view of the windshield in any manner; it is also close to the Driver Side Mirror [DSM]. I had the mechanic wire it so that it is ON with the ignition key, and thus use it not only for “back-up” vison, but also for continuous Blind-Spot Detection. In the day time, this is mostly excellent. As most drivers know, you can often see a vehicle overtaking you on the left with the DSM. But then it “disappears” into a “Blind Spot” as they begin to overtake you. If you haven’t been checking your DSM regularly, you may be completely unaware of a vehicle in this “Blind Spot,” thus making for a dangerous lane shift to the left for you. The Amtifo A23, as I have used it, largely gets rid of that DS “Blind Spot.” I used a 12 gauge [0.104"] 3" diameter 304 stainless steel disk for the mounting pad. [Available from “lumberjack1983" at you favorite auction site.] I used a marking pen on the dash and marked the rough outline, and used the disk as a template to mark and cut masking tape or duct tape to form a mask to protect the dash from the J-B 8277 WaterWeld epoxy putty which I used to fill the irregular space between the dash and the stainless steel disk. I cleaned the target dash spot with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ball and let dry. [I was afraid to use acetone due to fears that it might crack or dissolve the dash.] I also measured the distance between the bottom of the disk and the dash to determine where and how much putty I should use to completely “fill the gap.” I also had a clean putty knife and a bowl of water, two pairs of disposable gloves, and plenty of paper towels available. I had previously marked with a marking pen spots on the mask as well as the disk so that I could properly align them later. Put on the first set of gloves, and mix the putty between your hands. It is EXTREMELY sticky. Form it into a roll of the appropriate diameter to “fill the gap” that you have previously determined, and put any excess in the middle of the disk. Then, using the marks you have previously applied to the disk and the mask, wiggle it into place on the dash. Using the second pair of gloves, wet the putty knife, and use it to cut any excess putty and dispose it on the paper towels. You can also smooth the side somewhat with the wet putty knife. While J-B says that it sets up in 1 hour, you will find that it takes longer. Let it sit for a full 24 hours; it is hard as a rock then. I then used some water based acrylic satin black paint to paint the sides of the putty; using moistened Q-Tips, you can clean up any spillage on the dash or on the top of the disk. The 3" stainless disk fits the 2 5/8" diameter rubber suction cup of the Amtifo A23 perfectly. See photos for details and the final result. My results are as follows:There is continuous overlap between: the DSM, the Amtifo screen, and actually visually checking [as you should always do] out of the DS side window. IT COMPLETELY ELIMINATES THE DS BLIND SPOT HERE during most times. The Passenger Side Mirror [PSM] is somewhat more problematic. The PSM is not flat, like the DSM, but rather is convex, so the image is distorted. You still have a “Blind Spot” with the PSM. It is noted that, with at least my mirror positioning on my vehicle, the Amtifo A23 works BETTER than the PSM. You can see more. You can check what is on your PSM [and more!] without taking your eyes from the road ahead of you. Since it takes about ½ second to actually turn your head to check that PSM, things ahead of you could change significantly during that time. The Amtifo A23 eliminates that time lag. There are some downsides, however. One is vignetting of the image. The lower corners of the Amtifo display are dark. This is because the lens isn’t large enough to accurately fill the imager. This is a basic design flaw. While of minimal concern, perhaps, for when just being used as a back up monitor, for the broader use as a “Blind Spot” detector, it significantly leaves something to be desired.Second, is the overloading of the screen by bright images. In the daytime, it you have the sun or a light to the rear, the screen goes dark. There should be an automatic “intensity level cut” to limit this blooming and subsequent darkening of the overall image. If you lower the Contrast, this helps somewhat but it then begins to desaturate the image, eliminating “greens’ to be sure. This is why the Amtifo is of limited utility at night - any car lights behind you at 150 ft. or less completely fill the screen with blooming white light. This then becomes a driver distraction, and you have to turn off the display [OFF button on back.]Third, is the inability of the Amtifo to handle LED headlights. Wide, bright rolling bands almost completely wipe out the image with any LED headlights behind you. I am not sure if this is a just a matter of changing the refresh frequency of the Amtifo, or if something else is at play here. You have to turn OFF the display when you have such a vehicle behind you as this forms a driver distraction.Always remember, that you should ALWAYS actually check, as best you can, with your own eyes before any lane changes, and remember that while what you see in the Amtifo display is highly wide angle. What appears to be, perhaps, several hundred feet behind of you in the display, in actuality it may only be a few dozen feet. Thus while the Amtifo can be a very useful tool, it is only that - a tool. Your eyes and brain have to decide.

Great Product!
The Pros and Cons:Pro: Shipped quickly! Installed on my pickup truck, and love it! Easy to install if you know what you’re doing. I have mine hooked up to the charger port for power so I can turn it on when I back up or just see what’s behind me without having to put the truck into reverse every time.Cons: if you plan to hook yours up to the back up lights, it’s going to have to be done under the dash and going thru the trouble to find the right wire for the back up lamps or some other way. They only sent about 6Ft of wire to tap into the backup lights. In conclusion, very good product! Clear display, size is just right for what I need, durability is strong. Works at night like it should. Color is great.
