Dat knife was exacto what I needed
I was have trouble with EVA foam and the box cutters and Exacto knife were just not cutting it. So I saw this and had it wish listed just incase. I finally bought and hoo boy is this thing just so fine both visually appealing and the quality of its ability. The shape and the re-enforced blade opening and a strong neck hold the blade perfectly that it just glides oh so smoothly across the foam with minimal force. The blade is so good it makes carving and cutting other crafts simple. The marker shape makes the knife graspable in multiples and preform its primary function clean and smooth. The value is perfect the durability of the Knife itself is plastic so if crushed it might break. Also the blade is so sharp make sure to have a cutting board underneath to avoid damage surfaces. I didnโt cut wood with it but did cut aluminum wires like it was nothing. These blades are sharp not diamond tipped scalpel sharp but Japanese informercial knife sharp. Cut aluminum cans too just for a laugh stab hold blade turn can perfect un snagged single motion.

Thoughts from a graphic design student
I am currently in my year of college pursuing my bachelor's in graphic design. I have to print with a bleed all the time and cut my pages to size by hand. I was scared to get this initially due to the non-standard blades, but now that I have it, I have no regrets. One thing I wish was that I bought this when I first started my studio classes rather than waiting till my final semesters. This knife is fantastic. It's extremely comfortable in the hand. The rectangular shape of the handle makes it way easier to control than a cylindrical one for longer cuts. The fact that the blade retracts makes this a great traveling knife. Most hobby knives don't come with a cover for the blade (if they do they are not secure) or they come with a bulky hardcover case. As someone who likes to travel as lightly as possible, the retractable nature of this knife is a huge plus. The blade snaps off easily to one side (but not the other). When you snap it, the point seems just as sharp as a fresh x-acto blade. This semester I've been taking a package design class so I have had the opportunity to test it on all sorts of materials. The extending blade came in handy for cutting through thick foam and for scraping off the adhesive from a glass bottle I was rebranding. I have used it to cut through a thick .04-inch sheet of PET that I was using as a window. It took a few passes and quite a heavy hand, but it got through it without the blade snapping. I've used it for cutting off plastic and resin supports when 3D printing. It was sharp enough that it was easy to only cut through the material around delicate components without damaging them. This knife and my burnisher/bone folder combo tool are two of the most useful tools in my bag for anything print related.

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Compact, Sharp, and Perfect for Crafting!
I recently picked up this DAT utility knife and it has quickly become one of my go-to tools in my craft room. The design is sleek and feels high-quality right out of the box. I love the compact sizeโitโs easy to handle and perfect for precision cuts on vinyl, cardstock, and other materials I use for my wreath-making and DIY projects. The blade is super sharp and the retractable mechanism works smoothly. The grip is comfortable, and the additional blade it comes with is a nice bonus. I also appreciate the clear safety coverโit makes storage worry-free. Whether youโre a crafter or just need a solid knife for everyday use, I highly recommend this one. Great value and stylish, too!

Great Utility Knife
I purchased this craft knife after finding positive reviews, and itโs a knife that fulfills its intended purpose perfectly. The feel in hand is smooth and stable, and itโs lightweight, which is great. The blade is sharp, and it comes with 10 extra blades, so I can use it with peace of mind. It's suitable for precise work beyond just box cutting, and Iโm very satisfied with it.

Great for Paper, not Plastic
I was tired of using regular craft/x-acto blades for my work- trimming and cutting plastics + other 3d printed parts. The problem is their round handles and poor blade angle optimization make them less than ideal tools for ergonomic cutting. The DAT knife, on the other hand, feels perfect. Paired with a good straight edge and cutting mat, it makes you feel invincible. The handle nestles perfectly into many different grip styles- with smooth injection molded plastics that feel quality and satisfying to the touch. Meanwhile, the blade angle relaxes your wrist and makes the knife far easier to balance, making pulling and pushing cuts equally easy to make. The housing and angle of the blade also transmit feedback from the blade to your wrist in a way I never thought was possible. This knife makes it a LOT easier to gauge the depth of a cut and feel resistance in the material. The combined effect is a knife that is pleasurable to use and easy to be incredibly precise with IF 1. you are cutting on a flat-ish surface 2. The material you are cutting through does not offer much in the way of resistance (construction paper/cardstock at most) 3. You only place downward pressure on the blade. If you use this to cut plastics- you will have a bad time. This knife struggles with even the thinnest corrugated plastic board from Michael's. The problem lies in the design of the knife and the blades themselves. This handle does not adequately reinforce the blade against side-to-side motion during a cut, and the blades have FAR too much play in the back-and-forth direction- common with a majority of retractable knives. In short- it's perfect for paper, but it's a pass on plastic.

A game-changing paper cutting tool for me!
I finally found the craft tool that checks all my boxes. It's a precision cutter, designed to fit comfortably in my hand, slices perfect and tiny cuts in every paper I've tried so far, retracts safely and easily, sits in a pen holder ready for use, has a clever pop-off device to SAFELY break away the old blade, comes with a bunch of replacement stainless steel blade strips, has a quick twine cutter, arrives in an attractive, giftable box (and I do plan on gifting this to friends)...I could go on and on. Bye bye hand cramps! Bye bye all those other name brand cutters with scary covers and odd blade positions. I would gladly buy from USA makers if they could just pay attention to details like this maker does. They had their place and time, and to be fair, other styles may be more suitable for super heavy duty cutting, but this tool does what I need for my crafts, and I always feel safe and comfortable doing it!
