Durable sharpening tool
This tool proved to be a good value for maintaining sharp knives, gardening pruners, and loppers. The 400-grit surface quickly removes tiny nicks and pits and leaves a smooth edge. A few passes with the 1000-grit surface produces a finely sharpened hone. Easy to use and makes a noticeable difference when cutting.

Not bad, works fast
I like the size of this sharpener. It has a decent handle on it with a stone of the same size versus just a stone that has to be held between 2 fingers. Ive sharpened differnt grades of steel with it from my homemade 1075 knives to a semi custom d2 blade with hardness over 61 hrc and the stone performed well. That being said, its diamond. Its starts out extra rough and breaks in to a finer grit over time. The course was what i remember a 400 grit diamond being.... Veeeeerrrryyyy rough. The 1000 grit was noticibly smoother and broke in faster.I had a good edge with just this stone but stropped my knife after and its a razor. Its a versatile stone, and i think its worth it especially as a bugout bag item

Practical utility
I have a Toro Electric Recycler mower. The battery life is highly dependent upon the load on the mower. A dull blade equals more load. When I checked my blade it was pretty clear it was just trying to bludgeon the grass rather than mow it. I was debating replacing it or removing it and sharpening it. Neither option was really appealing. Fortunately, I found this tool.First, I have to mention for the humble tool it is, it is insanely well packaged. It isn’t the flashiest took out of the box, and the holster is plain, but it shows the grit on the side and pocket well.It took me a bit to get the pressure and motion right, but with a little more pressure than I started with it shaped right up. Took out some dings and dents and left me with a far sharper blade than when I started. I am looking forward to trying it out and seeing how well it works. Just remember you are looking for more of a clever thicker steeper edge rather than a long slim edge. Now, I think with a few moments of maintenance after each mow I can keep a sharper edge and go with less charging. The wear you see is after the first vigorous rework and the abrasive level didn’t seem to change at all, so I think this should provide a few seasons of service at least.

Ok for smaller pocket knives
I thought I’d really like having the handle attached to the sharpening stone but I don’t like it at all. I’ve been sharpening my knife collection for over 40 years and I guess I’m just stuck in my ways. But there is one thing about this sharpener that is not good for anyone. And that is the fine grit side. It’s only 800 but it should be at least 1000. At least. And the leather sheath is a good idea but in my eyes it’s a waste of leather. Will just absorb the knife oil off the stone and mix with leather partially smoothing out parts of stone. Very disappointed but mainly just because I really don’t like the handle at all.

Finally A Perfect Fish Hook Sharpener
After carrying a file or stone for decades to sharpen hooks, and never being really satisfied, it appears my wish for an ideal sharpener has been granted. The trouble with files is that they rust. Every year I’m replacing $8+ files. Stones are easy to grove and worthless on heavy hooks. And you need a coarse and fine stone or file to dial it in. This diamond file comes in a nice box that will be a plus if giving a gift. It’s big enough with a good handle meaning you can bear down and quickly sharpen. The 400 and 1,000 grit surfaces makes it easy to grind down a dull 12/0 hook and then needle point it, or to put a fine point on a #8 crappie hook as shown. I would not use this sharpener as my primary knife sharpener as it’s not that wide and would take a while to go through a bunch of knives after a big cleaning session. But as a touch up tool it worked great, quickly taking this fairly dull knife to hair shaving sharpness. A key question is how good is the abrasive coating and how long will it last. It may easily take a year plus to answer that; however, so far all the other qualities look on target.
