Great boot
Great work boot. Not heavy. Very durable. Holds a good shine and the soles doesn’t wear away. Comfortable and have great support. Have bought 2 back ups for later use.

Not recommended
Boots are pretty stiff and uncomfortable. My heels hurt and go numb, more so with my right foot for some reason. I changed out the inserts which helped somewhat but not enough to want to keep wearing them. I tried breaking them in but it seemed as if though they got worst with more use. I have never had this kind of problem with any other boots. After extending wear of these boots (12 hour shifts), my right heel now is painful to extend even when I’m not wearing the boots. I do would not recommend.

Walking on clouds
Give these boots a few days wear to settle in and learn your feet..... THESE ARE THE MOST COMFORTABLE SUPPORTIVE BOOTS I'VE WORN!!! It took a couple days to wear them in, but so so soooooo worth it!!!

Decent Overall, but Zipper Failed Early
purchased the Bates Men’s OpSpeed Black Tall Side Zip Boots, and overall they were just mid for me. The black leather looks sharp and professional, and it’s fairly easy to polish. It takes a shine well without much effort, which is a plus if you need to keep them looking clean for work or uniform standards. Comfort-wise, they felt good, and the tread wore well. The outsole held up and maintained solid traction with regular use. The downside was the side zipper. It broke after about three months, which was disappointing since the zipper is one of the main features of this style boot. Once that failed, convenience dropped significantly. If the zipper durability matched the sole and leather quality, these would rate higher. Good appearance and traction, but the zipper was the weak link for me.

Got these for my dad who has bad ankles and wide feet. He loves them and they have been holding up nicely at his job doing security.
