Should I buy another bowl for a different flavor? My grandsons don't like the same flavor? Can it be emptied and used again right after?

I bought two! I have three sons, so half my family likes chocolate and the other half like vanilla! This way everyone can have their favorite flavor.

Does this machine require purchase of a special mix, or can you make ice cream using a recipe for typical "churned" type product?

No special mix. The recipe in the book (that comes with it) for vanilla ice cream calls for whole milk, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla.

I have a regular ice cream machine at home, but am thinking of ordering this as well. Do you think it would be worth it?

From my point of view, it is more work than it's worth. All of my recipes are for 4 or 6 quart machines, so none will work with this unit. Purchased mixes don't taste as good to me as my homemade from scratch ones. No ice, no salt is true, but you have to freeze the insulated mixing bowl for a minimum of 12 hours before using it. 24 hours works better, and then refreeze the contents you don't use right away, in the bowl, so you can dispense them using the machine again. Plus, it's mostly plastic. If you drop it, it breaks and needs to be replaced. My opinion, stay with a 4 or 6 quart electric machine that lasts and produces more ice cream.

how long does the ice cream last before melting after you make it?

As soon the ice cream is ready I mean after 30 minutes I put in the container and in the freezer, if it is very hot the ice cream will not stay hard.

Doesn't make ice cream

Hard to give anything else over 1/5 for a ice cream maker that doesnt make ice cream, at best ive gotten a very cold slushy soup. Bowl was left in the freezer for a whole day and the dessert base was left in fridge for 4hours + 30min in the freezer to make it the coldest i could without freezing it. didn't work.From what i've read the freezer need to be at -18C, ideally -26C, im not even sure mine can go that low even on coldest setting.

This product must be the worst says ice cream maker ever. Value for money what a waste . Followed instructions and ice cream . Couldn’t even say it was ice cream . Will be returning this product avoid at all cost
