Gentle and excellent shave!
I have sensitive skin, but I had read reviews that Cella was fine for sensitive skin, so I tried it and I love it! The scent is a mild almond cherry and is very pleasing. It doesn't make me sneeze or irritate my skin, which is always my problem with soaps. It is a soft cream/soap and it lathers exceptionally well. The foam is slick and protective, and it is tied for the best performing soap I have, along with Proraso white and Mitchell's Wool Fat. I've only used it for a week, so I don't know how long the puck will last, but since it's a croap I doubt it'll last as long as the hard soaps. Still, it's a fantastic shaving experience and well worth every penny. Right now it's my favorite shaving soap and I highly recommend it!Edit: I had assumed that since it was not a hard soap that it wouldn't last long, but I've had it for months and have barely made a dent in it. It's only been these past few weeks that I've been using it everyday though. Still, I've used it enough to say that it is a great buy for the money.

Just buy it!
First time trying cella after using many artisan soaps and I really love it! It doesn't take much at all to get a very dense slick lather and the scent is wonderful. One of the few soaps to still use tallow is a huge plus! It's price is amazing and it's performance is equal to any expensive artisan soap.

Great product
Subtle and pleasant scent. Soap builds a nice lather and doesn't dry out my skin. Would definitely recommend and I plan to purchase again. Have been using for a few months now and probably will last a few more. I shave 5-6 days per week.

Recommended, slick, a bit drying.
Good shaving soap. Reduces razor burn noticeably, very slick. I have very sensitive skin. May be a little drying for some people (four stars), but it is soap. The smell is much more "soapy" than "almond". You can smell a light almond scent, but it's not like marzipan. It wouldn't interfere with anything else.

Great Soap
This is great soap. I've been trying out shaving soaps and this lathers up just as well, maybe better, than a number of the more expensive soaps. Using saving soap is a bit of an art. You've got to get the right soap to water ratio and mix it with a decent brush. It seems that stiffer brushes work better with soaps. A boar hair, pure badger, or super badger brushes are probably better than a silver tip badger, but a lot of people really prefer the soft silver tip brush and you can mix up lather with them. Practice and experimenting will pay-off. This would be a great soap to start out with because it is inexpensive and of a higher quality. My first soap was a cheap Walmart soap. It taught me how bad a soap can be and it really was like using hand soap. That soap smelled cheap. Cella has a fresh almond scent, which is not overwhelming and dissipates so that it does not conflict with other aftershaves or colognes. Cella would also make a good long term soap. I don't mean imply it is only for beginners and it will be in my cabinet for a long time to come. Happy shaving.Oct 1---A lot of folk really like to use a badger shave brush, and I will admit that the softer bristles are nice, but as I mention above a stiffer brush can work well with soaps. I have a super badger brush and my brother has a pure badger. The silver tip is the softest and the super is a middle soft/stiff badger brush. I have been using the super badger for some time and like it with the soap, but I decide to pick up a quality boar hair out of curiosity. (Vulfix makes several and you can find them here on Amazon). Don't be afraid to give these boar hair brushes a try. They are of a lower price but not of a lower quality. My boar hair is incredible with this Cella soap. I mean really amazing. I am getting my best lather yet! The best lather I ever got from a can was Nivea sensitive skin (I still like that stuff. If you got to get a can, get Nivea). But with the boar brush and the Cella soap I am getting an even thicker rich lather! than the Nivea or the Cella with the super badger. Give the boar hair a try. A great shave does not have to be expensive.

Slick, rich thick lather, leaves face soft and good moisture. I like the marzipan scent
It's a great addition to my shaving creams and soaps. My shave: I have a medium beard, shave with hot water or after shower, Merkur Mk34c razor, oil or cream pre shave, apply lather, 2 to 3 passes, alum bar, aftershave balm. The first thing I noticed was the smell and the second was it’s not quite a cream and not quite a shaving soap puck. You probably can apply it directly on a moist face with your palms like Proraso and Cremo creams, but I use a brush.Lather - whips up a nice thick and fluffy lather but not at first, I started using less water and that seemed to do the trick. I also used a stiffer brush and it lathered up really fast in about 30 seconds.Scent - I like. It smells exactly like marzipan which is an almond paste candy covered with rich chocolate or maybe a rich chocolate cherry almond slice of cake selected off of a dessert tray at a fine restaurant.Shaving - goes on rich, covers face completely, soaks beard soft, gives a smooth clean shave on two to three passes although you can get a pretty good shave on one pass in a hurry. However, it drys out on my face, I apply to entire face but I shave one side at a time then brush the other side to moisten and shave. My first shaves I tried it sans pre shaves, by itself it is very slick so there’s no cuts and no burns. With pre shave oil or cream lather up with one pass good shave, two passes or more I get a great shave that leaves softness and moisture on my face.

A classic creme with a solid reputation but YMMV
I have used Cella in the past and I'm going to rate it 3 stars on THAT basis, but be aware that your mileage may vary based on water chemistry, humidity etc. At my old place it worked fine. At my present home, the water chemistry must be a bit different because the lather dries out FAST, and is not very slick.Cella's a classic, and the almond scent is nice enough, but the lather is unreliable for anything but a fast, single-pass shave.
