Excellent and sturdy brolly weathered rainy Edinburgh and Glasgow
I’d been researching quote heavily in a good quality umbrella after my years of buying cheap “breaks after one windy day” ones from the likes of budget friendly Primark.Firstly, I purchased the forest green colour which looks great, rich green and looks premium.Do note, this umbrella is more weighty and larger than your typical British handbag umbrellas but there’s a very handy clip attached to the cover that clips nicely to the hardware of my handbags.I bought this umbrella due to the typical dreary rain all day, all week weather predicted in Scotland for a joint birthday holiday trip. The umbrella did not disappoint and it covered me (a plus size lady) confidently. I would say it would be a push to cover two persons, perhaps it can with the expectation you may get dropped on the edges. The automatic open mechanism works well but as others suggested, it does take a thorough push to “reload” the spring. My tip is, after pressing the button to close the umbrella, physically drive the umbrella to the ground until the pole reduces in length and you hear the audible “click”.The handle of the umbrella felt practically and ergonically designed for the hand to grab onto.I would highly recommend this umbrella to anyone who’s after a high quality umbrella that offers a spring loaded open and close mechanism.

Sturdy great design good value for money
I waited till storm Eowyn and Hermina passed to rate my purchase. 5 stars. Sturdy umbrella, easy to put up and fold away , great vents mean you are not fighting the wind and it will not turn inside out. Not heavy so I carry it everywhere I go in Scotland . Worth the money good value

TLDR; it's a telescopic vented umbrella. It copes well with strong winds and rain. Worth buying
This umbrella is lightweight, compact yet robustly built, which makes it ideal for my work bag and for my daily walk before work. I specifically chose a vented umbrella that would be resilient against driving rain and strong winds. This umbrella proved to be up to the task when I used it several times during the tail end of Storm Christop in mid January 2021. It kept me dry and wasn't damaged by the strong winds.Suggested improvements...i) Unlike my previous umbrella, the Ergonauts umbrella can only be operated using the telescopic opening mechanism. As long as this mechanism works the umbrella is useful; if the mechanism ever breaks it cannot be used. I appreciate why this is the case - the user cannot force the telescopic mechanism, so hopefully it will last longer. Ideally I would like an umbrella that has both manual and telescopic opening.ii) I wanted a more colourful umbrella than plain black akin to the designs seen on golfing umbrellas, for example one with two colours (red & black, green & black), or maybe a design with a black exterior and a coloured interior. Unfortunately only the black and yellow models were in stock on Amazon when I purchased mine.iii) The umbrella was a little smaller than I expected - a good size for one adult but too small to share. Note it is the size stated in the description.OverviewA robust yet lightweight umbrella that so far has proved resistant to the British winter weather. I would buy it again.

Not too fierce an opening to handle
The first thing I tested was the opening mechanism. It’s fine and doesn’t shoot open like a mad spring, it merely glides but quickly. I somehow had imagined from the description that it would shoot open but it’s not the case so it’s easy to handle. The spring isn’t too fierce to get it all back in place either. Seems to be a sturdy brolly. I love it and it’s probably the best made that I’ve ever had so should last years. Very stylish. I quickly was able to repack it back into its cover without it looking untidy.

Might be the last umbrella I buy this year
I got this a couple of weeks ago and having used it in the wind and the rain more than a few times, I can say that it’s a solid upgrade to the cheap umbrellas you get at the station. My route home from the train station is like a watery wind tunnel, and I got tired of having umbrella after umbrella snap twist and fold itself inside out. Having wasted maybe 50 bucks over the last year, I decided I needed something better, but most of the highly rated umbrellas I could find were closer to 100. At that price I can keep replacing the cheap ones, I thought, but then I scrolled past this one. It’s a very cheery yellow, it’s vented and very sturdy, and it’s still small enough and light enough to slip into my backpack. Don’t get me wrong, it is noticeably heavier than the cheap supermarket umbrellas, but not so much that it’ll be a problem. This new umbrella feels so much more sturdy and I’m hoping it’ll take a lot more time before I have to replace it!
