This is a very nice kit! Jar is a good weight and tall. The opening is wide. The spatula is sturdy and a perfect size. I recommend this for anyone just starting out with sourdough or those who have been making starter for years.

What a functional starter container this is, with a mouth big enough to put my entire hand inside to clean it. The accessories include one cotton top, a rubber-type top, one elastic band with dates and hours that shows when you last fed your starter, and can be slid up and down the glass container to show the starting point of the starter before feeding it, a very functional spatula, and a temperature gauge that goes on the glass vessel. When the glass container is not in the fridge, you can put the rubber top on the bottom of the vessel to prevent it from sliding around on the countertop, which is lovely. It also includes a long, complex rubber tool for steering your starter, and it easily cleans off the sides of the glass starter container when preparing your starter in the vessel. As for the temperature gauge, be careful not to disregard it; it's tiny in a plastic package with the other accessories. I accidentally threw mine away because I was unaware of it in the package. I emailed KneadAce, and they emailed me the same day. I told them what I did and offered to buy another temperature gauge. KneadAce said that they would send me another temperature gauge for free. Finding customer service like this is tough; my hat is certainly off to Michelle who was my customer service representative. One last thing, the cardboard box and packaging inside that the glass container came in was perfect. You know KneadAce cares about the quality of the product when it comes packaged this well. high quality, simple, and most importantly really easy and helpful start to baking sourdough. highly recommended and I got a second one to always have a backup clean jar at the ready which is handy.

Nice container and accessories. Works as intended. The thermometer is low contrast, and the time band is similarly less legible than it could be. Fixing those two issues would make this five stars.

This jar is perfect for those new to creating a sourdough starter (that’s me 🤣) Everything, from the time band, the thermometer, to the skinny spatula and silicone cover, all make it less intimidating for someone just starting out! I am in the Northeast, where it is freezing and very dry right now, so I have been putting my starter inside the oven with the light on at night, when we keep our house cooler. The thermometer allowed me to see that putting the jar right next to the oven light with the oven door closed was a bit too warm, but moving the jar to the opposite side of the oven away from the light, puts it at a perfect 75-79F range. The silicone cover was the key to my starter not crusting over and preventing growth - I had reached out to Meni (CEO) and asked how to resolve the dry layer on top because it’s been so cold here, he suggested putting the silicone cover on top and it was exactly what it needed.Oh, and let’s talk about customer service…. Meni personally answered every single question I sent to him, and helped me to have a very successful first bake (yesterday) with a very young starter (12 days old at time of making bread). Between emails back and forth, and the extremely helpful walkthrough videos available (I am a ‘need to see it’ kind of person), this newbie was able to bake sourdough 🤣I need to mention the quality of the packaging as well (for all of these products). I understand that it is not important to everyone, but I feel if a company takes time and effort (and $$$) to present their products in a nice way, it speaks volumes. The packaging is very high quality and esthetically pleasing, and it is clear that a lot of attention goes toward presentation. Quality products AND quality packaging - I have no hesitation purchasing more products from KneadAce.

I love my new KneadAce Pro Sourdough Bread Starter Kit! It has a nice large opening so I can get my whole hand inside the jar to clean and an even broader bottom to hold more product. I like that it comes with the two different types of covers for the different styles of proofing. The spatula was a pleasant surprise on how it is narrow and can mix the ingredients easily allowing the dough to clean off easily. Also, having a thermometer on the jar helps me to know if I need to move the jar to a warmer or cooler location so the starter will develop well. And the customer service was a pleasant surprise! They got back to me immediately and solved my issue.
