This is an excellent case for the 13.5" Surface Book 3!
So to preface this- I have almost 16 years in professional, Bachelor's in Science Computer Science degree-backed field experience in IT, server administration, and corporate device policy management. I also have about 20 years of device repair experience, from iPads to Dell NAS and servers. I am probably the MOST qualified person in these reviews to give you the rundown. If you are looking for a hard protective case for your Surface Book 3, look no further! I bought this yesterday and had it delivered the same day. The cases at Best Buy were lacking (this is a common issue with them) as well as the ones at the local tech store- so I looked on Amazon, and pretty immediately found this one. Some of the reviews on here mention the headphone jack is covered partially- that would be because those reviewers didn't want to take the extra 3 seconds of force to push the tablet the rest of the way into the case. It took me pushing extra hard from the bottom of the case and tablet to get the Surface to lock completely into the case. These other reviewers were honestly too dumb to do this, so I would make sure when you do this yourself, you PUSH the tablet ALL THE WAY IN. This case is NOT meant for a 15 inch Surface Book; I'm not even sure a hard case for those exists yet. But this UAG is rugged, it feels premium, and the rubber mounts around the screen seem like they might allow the screen some distance from actually touching the ground if it were to fall down, face-first. The grip on the top (nearest to the connection area between the keyboard and tablet) is EXTREMELY useful for someone like me, who needs to carry the Surface onto a job site without the keyboard. My ONLY gripe with the grips is that the left clipping grip on the case is a little loose, and as such does not hold completely on that side when the keyboard is connected and the Surface Book is closed. I am docking one star from the Durability section due to this issue. As you can see from the photos, the pen mounts flush against the top of the case/Surface. It's very secure, I walked around with it all day today and it never fell out. The cameras on the front and rear are clear of any obstruction. I do not feel like at any time my hands are being blocked or have to move a different way than normal to use the keyboard or pen. If this were on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, this product is a solid 9.5, and is an exceptional value for the money. Thankfully I haven't had to test the dropping of my device onto the ground, and I hope it never happens, but if it does then as long as it doesn't land directly on the screen or fall from an incredible height, I'm sure once or twice would be fine with this case.

A Beautiful Surface Book 2 Rugged Case.
I've been a fan of UAG products for a while and through 2 Surface Pro's the first thing I would always do after getting them home was hit up Amazon and find the UAG case for them. Naturally I did the same thing when I got my Surface Book 2. I was a little worried about the product based on the reviews here. Thankfully if you spend some time to fit the case and really pay careful attention as you do so, this new case is a wonderful thing with absolutely no issues. First up , the screen case. You need to really make sure that the top of the screen is inserted first and that it is as tight against that case as you can get it. The first time I fit the case I found that I could still see some of the silver frame of the screen with the case on and the buttons in the case didn't seem to match up with the position of the volume and power buttons on the device itself. I removed the screen, reinserted the top edge and then put the whole thing in my lap with the top edge of the case pressed hard against me. I then applied a lot of pressure to the screen to make sure the top didn't slide away from the case as I lowered the rest down. The edges of the case will then literally "SNAP" into place (it's audible). The end result is an extremely snug fitting screen case with buttons that fit perfectly with zero play. One reviewer noted that the packaging doesn't even say Surface Book 2, it just says Surface Book. That's correct. This case is designed for both the Surface Book and the SB2. Since most SB2's have a discrete graphics card in the base what you need to do is to remove the two large rubber inlays in the UAG base case. They just peel out, it's not a biggie. With them removed you can easily fit the base case to the base and again it's just as snug and perfectly fitting as the screen case, when done right. TLDR: I was concerned quality had gone downhill with UAG when I read the other reviews, but that's not the case at all. You do however really need to pay attention as you fit this case to get the perfect fit and the maximum enjoyment/value out of it.

It was perfect for my Surface Book
It was perfect for my Surface Book. I don't have Pro nor do I have Surface 2. I have the simple Surface Book and this case fit it perfectly. As other reviews stated, the power button is low reaching but it does work and I feel it actually adds an extra layer of protection because it can't be powered on so easily by just anyone. I love that it clips on the sides so that you actually have to pull the tabs up to open the book, although some may not like this added step when opening it. I already mistakenly dropped my Surface book with the case on it (hence why I got one in the first place) and it was fine. The lamp I dropped it on didn't fair too well though. The screen doesn't have protection so I may go ahead and get a separate protector for that but as long as it's closed it seems to work well. I'll report back after a few months and see how I still feel about it.

Not only is it bulky and annoying, but it DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR MACHINE
***EDIT: despite being careful and having this case on it AT ALL TIMES, my screen cracked a the corner. I don't even know when it happened --- therefore it wasn't a catastrophic event. So you can read the below commentary in case you also think this is your best hope, but the stupid case is not worth the money.***** This product is fine... it would be good but for two complaints regarding design 1. The opening for the headphone jack is misplaced. I have seen some comments stating a "thin" jack would work, but mine is definitely covering part of the hole and I would have to force a jack in... doesn't seem good for my device. See photo. 2. The protective piece for the hinge is annoying when trying to reattach the tablet, I think it is likely the metal bar will eventually detach from the plastic. I was going to return this, but.... as it turns out this is the only heavy duty case I can find, and I bet a replacement would have the same problem. So I guess I'll take a dremel to the hole.

Not sure if it really was MADE for a Surface Book 2, but it kind of works/fits... with lots of brute strength...
It is a pain in the rear to get on, and sliding it all the way in to the top so you don't have to push overly hard to get the power button and volume buttons to respond is a pain. Also, you will more than likely need to get a slim fit 3.5mm headphone jack adapter because with the case on, most headphone jacks won't fit. I like the pen clip on the top but it is almost too rigid and I worry that I will break it somehow. I also worry about the force needed to get it on/off my surface book2. I wonder if it really is machined/created for surface book 2s.... Oh well, I've got it on now and it is functional. I haven't dropped my book2 yet and hopefully never will, so I can't speak to its actual protection value. I do like the bumpers on the corners in the front, but the piece that fits over the accordion like joint between the tablet/screen and the keyboard seems incredibly flimsy... So far so good. I'll update with any issues I may inquire.

Best Surface Book Case...hands down!!
Absolutely the best case for Microsoft Surface Book! Very light, yet provides excellent drop coverage. The spine at the hinge provides much better grip. The pen/stylus holder is secure. I also have one of those "leather" cases that fits great and looks cool, but it's so slippery the risk of dropping the Surface Book was so bad that I took the case off. Very minor convenient is that the "On" and "Volume" buttons are less precise, but more than useable compared to the increase in overall protection. Probably overkill, but I still added a "Skinomi Tech Glass" screen protector, not for scratch protection, but for breakage protection from a big drop. This UAG case had no equals.

faulty by design
the case is built strongly when it's closed and on properly it'll 100% protect the laptop from just about any sort of accidental fall...HOWEVER, after 3 months of excessive use, it has failed me and not in the way you'd expect. I'm a college student who has replaced all my notebooks with my Microsoft Surface Book 2 and so I'm constantly opening, closing, and pulling/pushing my laptop in and out of my bag. CONS: 1. The rubber wire that spans across the brace (the ribbed spine that connects the screen/tablet to the keyboard) is a poor design choice as the spine itself isn't soft or rounded un its edges so the metal will slowly tear into the rubber cord EVERYTIME you open your laptop. once this cord breaks the cap which protects the entire spine from damage will simply open and close with gravity, exposing the spine whenever you hole the laptop. 2. The rubber clamps which "lock" the laptop in the closed position came (out of the box) faulty. they did not have enough tension to hold the monitor/tablet closed to the keyboard resulting in it "popping" open (ie. if you dropped it or it fell it will 100% open on the way down, exposing the screen)even opens under neutral tension. for example, I'd close the laptop on my desk and the minuscule tension from the spin would somehow force the laptop to open slightly as the clamps would fail to hold. 3. the Surface Pen holder is poorly placed and works against you here are my issues with it A. Being placed on the "top" of the tablet portion of the laptop as I have to turn it sideways to fit it in my bag the pen rubs against the side of my bag when inserting and removing it resulting in it getting scratched and being "popped" out of the fitting either landing in my bag or landing on the floor resulting in further damage B. the fitting is formed to the 2017 version of the Microsoft Surface Pen so it has a portion that is meant to protect the tip or stylus portion of the pen, this works against you sort of like an anvil because in there is any pressure against the top of the laptop (ie. if it is closed in a bag and most likely placed in that bag sideways the pressure will go to the weakest part of the pen) the "weakest" part being the tip and as the "anvil" has no give and is poorly form-fitted it provides a guide and just enough space for the pen tip to be pressured then broken into the mold 4. The case itself is an extremely tight fit for my 13.5' Surface, was waaaaayyyyy too hard to get it on this could be good or bad, im not sure PROS: 1. this thing in neigh indestructible, it'll protect against those lillt screwups that happen every once and a while. 2. provides alot of surface area for stickers without having to apply them directly onto the laptop 3. it being such an unnecessarily tight fit prevents dirt and dust from making it under the cover and "into" the case OVERALL: it's built sturdy and strong against OUTSIDE forces, HOWEVER, the case WILL break itself eventually depending on how much you use your laptop and ill guarantee it to fault on you between 3 & 8 months, it won't last any longer than that, not with the materials it is using.

Outstanding Design And Construction. Best case ever made for Surface Book 13.5 inch models! A++++++++++++++
Outstanding design and construction! I love that this new edition that fits ALL 13.5 Surface Books comes with removable 'rubber stops' (2) that are placed inside the inner side of the tray that holds the keyboard - allowing you to either leave them in or remove them with an easy pull - depending on how think the keyboard is on your edition of the Surface Book. For the new Surface Book 2 17 edition you remove the two rubber stops because the keyboard is thicker than the 15 model Surface Book 2.... No matter what this design will work with all models of Surface Book 13.5 inch whether you have the original model or Surface Book with Performance Base of any of the 13.5 Surface Book 2 editions. NOTE: This is too small to fit the new 15 inch Surface Book 2!!!!!!

With significant protection comes significant bulk.
I read all of the negative reviews but ordered anyhow as I'm a little rough with my electronics, and wanted to protect my new Microsoft Surface Book 3 (13.5"). When spending the better part of $3,000 on my device, I wasn't hesitant to spend $70 on a case to protect it. This case is attractive, easy to install, and offers the best protection of any case I could find on the market. The two side clip closures feel robust, and unless you're a total hammerhead that tries to break them off, should have no issues with regards to durability or functionality. This case offers surface protection on all surfaces, as well as robust impact protection on all sides/corners. It does add bulk/weight, but are you looking for protection or attractive skin? I now look forward to the inevitable dropping of my laptop without the worry of destroying it.

100% passgenau

Fits the Surface 2 like a Glove - good protection
Heavy Duty / Rugged cover which fits ve3ry well with the surface 2 laptops. I like the way the base and the back of the laptop is protected and I like the way the pen holder is setup above the case. Highly recommend it.

Awesome protective case
If you've laid out this much for a laptop, this is the best clumsiness insurance money can buy. Especially useful if you travel like I do - this will take all the bumps and knocks so that this laptop keeps on working.
