Highly recommended
We don't pay attention to our brain health until it's too late. I bought this book because I want to protect and maintain brain function as I age and stay mentally acute. After reading Brain Weaver, I realized that optimal brain health doesn't require fancy supplements and expensive treatments. The best things we can do to protect our brains are available to all of us. Simple things like meditation, cooking healthy meals and gentle exercise are all beneficial for our brains. The doctors in this book share the studies to back it up and I highly recommend it

Fantastic read on brain health and wellness
Reading the book 'Brain Weaver" by Dr. Newberg and Dr. Monti provided insight on how to manage brain health at a constant level. I know that exercise and a healthy diet are good for my body but I did not think of them in connection with my brain. This book has made me take a good look at my lifestyle and has shown me the benefits of a more plant based diet, more vegetables less red meat, less dairy and no more high sugar sweets.

Simplistic and sloppy
I ordered this book after hearing the authors interviewed on NPR. As aging baby boomers, we are very health conscious and always looking for ways to improve our deteriorating brain function, and a research-based book written by two neuroscientists sounded promising. What a disappointment! The book is written in simplistic language, is very redundant, with the same points being made in multiple chapters, and contains mostly “may help” kinds of recommendations. I really didn’t learn anything new - I already knew that a healthy diet, exercise and some sort of spiritual outlet were the keys to long-term good health. Most disappointing, the book is full of punctuation and grammatical errors that indicate it was rushed to market with insufficient editing. I don’t remember the page number, but one sentence contained a rogue “t” floating between words. Or how about this gem from page 163: “… so quitting or greatly eliminating caffeine, alcohol, and smoking are all going to help you manage your anxiety symptoms”. “Greatly eliminating”? That is just plain sloppy.I do not recommend this book.

There is no new information or substance to this book
There was no new information in this book and it kept repeating the same basic information over in a little different way. Also, one of the authors is Jewish and he offers no information or research on Jewish practices like meditation, studying, or prayer and how it affects the brain.
