Truly remarkable mirror!
My wife has been wanting this mirror for a while based on the recommendation of makeup expert Lisa Eldridge. When it came, the box was sleek and the packaging easy to get into. When we got the mirror out and plugged it in, the sensor caught my wife's face and lit immediately. As one who really isn't easily impressed, I was really impressed by this thing! The light ring is remarkable and gives wonderful visibility, mimicking outdoor light very well (or so my wife tells me!). The magnification detail is pretty dang incredible, too. I took a look at myself in the mirror and saw my pores and complexion in a new light (get it? ba dum, chh). But seriously, it was fascinating to be able to see myself that well in a mirror, with that kind of lighting. I really thought, "Oh! So THAT's what my face really looks like!"The sensor works really well and I like the fact that it stays on for just a bit, dims, then turns off. We've not had any issues with the light malfunctioning during usage. The slider bar to adjust the brightness is a nice feature, where you just run your finger up and down the back of the mirror between what would be 3:00 and 6:00 on a clock. Just a simple finger slide up or down--it's responsive and simple to use.I also just like the simplicity of the design. A power button on the bottom of the base (though you're supposed to leave it on anyway, but can be turned off for storage or moving or the such. Other than that, the sensor turns it on automatically, the dimmer on the back, and then the light ring around the base (solid green means fully charged, flashing green means still charging, and flashing red means low battery--most of the time, it's just off when not plugged in).My only complaint (so to speak) would be that you have to put your face in a very specific distance from the mirror to use it, probably about 5-6 inches. Beyond that, it's blurry and out of focus. I know that's the nature of how the mirror works, but just something to know going in. I'd hoped my wife would be able to stand at the counter and just look down into the mirror, but the distance was too great. She has to sit to get close enough, which is totally fine because what the mirror does is so great. I just thought it was worth pointing out.Overall, the mirror is simple and elegant in design, and the magnification and brightness are truly remarkable. We highly recommend it!

Worth every penny!!! Best mirror ever!!!
My mom owns this mirror and I tried it out while I was visiting. OMG!!! Such a HUGE improvement over the lighted makeup mirror I had been using for years! And, OMG, look at all those chin hairs I had missed! 😳 I had to have this mirror asap! This mirror is pricey but definitely worth the investment. The illumination is powerful and does an excellent job so small details can be seen in the high quality magnifying mirror. The mirror is rechargeable so it can be located away from an outlet if needed. The diameter of the mirror is appropriate. The base is smaller and takes up minimal room on a counter. The mirror conveniently tilts. The options for light intensity and motion detection to turn the light on/off are very useful.

Too bulky for travel, but the best for home use.
Lighting modes are great, proximity detector is convenient, size and shape work well for using at home. Too big and heavy for travel.

The natural light makes this unique.
I’ve had mine for years, then gave it as a gift after my daughter saw me using it, and commented on it. It’s a bit spendy, but worth the extra cost. The natural lighting is what makes this mirror unique, and to me, worth the extra cost. I’m always confident that my makeup is applied by the mirrors’ natural daylight, and won’t be overdone, or look gawdy or weird in another setting. It’s sturdy, heavy, well made, and is easily recharged. It’s way too large and heavy for travel. But perfect for bathroom or vanity or dining table, which is where I put on my makeup and enjoy my coffee!

Do Not Waste Your Money
I purchased this Simplehuman Vanity Mirror six months ago. Now-no illumination. Tried to reset-no help. Tried another micro-USB charger-unit doesn't charge. When you download the warranty-five years. Contacted Amazon-they will not honor what is listed. Contacted Simplehuman-they will not replace or return. Contacted the seller-of course no response. When you try to contact Simplehuman-cannot speak to anyone. AI does all of their chat, text, and email responses. What a deplorable company. Read the 1-star reviews like mine-don't lose your money on this product, and don't trust Amazon to back up any warranty. They will only make returns in the 30-45 day window, regardless what documents they place on their product description page.

Sensor on/off is irritating
I use this mirror to apply makeup without my glasses. The light brightness is good. There are two settings, with one being brighter than the other. Think of it as an evening/daylight setting. Just tap the mirror and it gets brighter. The charge cord is not long enough to reach from my electrical outlet to dressing table, so I keep the battery charged. I think this is required more frequently due to it coming on when I don’t need it. If you want something cordless, this would be good. The on/off sensor is irritating since the mirror comes on anytime I get near my dressing table, which is in my closet. I would have preferred an on/off switch. I turn the face/sensor toward the wall so that it doesn’t come on so often. The 5X magnification side doesn’t seem to really be 5X, but more like a 3X or 4X magnification. Or maybe my eyes are worse than I thought. The style is nice and sleek but not appropriate for travel. Too bulky and heavy. They do make a small travel mirror though. The reflection is clear. I am just slightly disappointed with magnification and sensor inconvenience. And it’s very pricey compared to other makeup mirrors.

Important to Know
Amazon will only give you a credit if you buy the replacement even if the product is double the price when returning a product that is faulty that was listed as "NEW" by both seller and Amazon.A Simplehuman mirror 2021 model was bought and received with a chip and lighting system never worked after charging it more than 24hrs. from out of the box. Troubleshooting format did not work at all.The most interesting part is the product looked exactly like the one a customer showed the picture of in his his/her review and the mirror had the chip and that fact the lighting was not working either was exactly what I had received. I wouldn't order it as I will grade this product a 1 out of 5 for its model and the service for not taking full responsibility to provide the customer with a new one that is not faulty.

The light it emits is very natural, unlike my old mirror, plus 5 times magnification is perfect.
I like the slimness of it and that it can be cordless, requiring charging after many hours of use. I especially love the natural light it emits. It makes putting on makeup flawless, as you just can’t get more natural light than this.

Very happy!
At first I couldn’t figure out how to change the light settings, and I was very disappointed with the brightness and the warmth of the lighting. And then I noticed the adjusting mechanism along the edge of the mirror and have since discovered how to turn on the cool light setting and adjust the brightness. I now absolutely love my mirror.

It's expensive, but nice
These are expensive but nice. If the prices could come down a little that would be good. I only bought my second choice as I couldn't justify paying twice as much for the one I really liked.
