Q: How is the ringing ball suspended from the bell, is it loose?

The ringing ball is suspended by a spring which is not loose and quite secure. My family loved them and they are fine for my smallest grandchildren (2 years) to use under supervision. They are well made and fun.

Q: Are they metal or plastic?

Metal and they have a good tone and true note.

Q: does it come with music sheets to follow? If so what songs are on there?

No just the bells and this is just the 5 add on set you need the set of 8 from muddle C to High C the add on set us sharps and flats between these. You can find handbell music on line or if you have music copy out the treble line marking notes in the right colour to make it easy for a new player
