Very pretty
We received these today. We bought 3. They are very pretty and sturdy. The colors are true to the picture. The packaging was oustanding! Thank you!We are going to enjoy them in our beach house.

Poor packaging
I did not like the packaging. The glass had come out and was loose in the oversize box. there was only a piece of kraft paper laying in the "too large box". I purchased two rubber washers to put under the wing nuts to prevent damage to the paint.Otherwise this was exactly what I wanted. The brown color seemed perfect. The picture is one I took in KeyWest when on vacation with out Grand Kids. I waited and waited for the perfect picture. Then I wanted the perfect way to display the Photograph. I now have that perfect display of the picture, and a unique item in my man cave.I am very happy with this product.

Perfect!
I love this so much. I was looking for something that would go along with the Old Man of the Sea picture from Home Interior that I’ve had forever! This is perfect! There are no instructions with it, so it took me a minute to figure out the screws/hinges. I added the picture of the shrimp boat that I took myself instead of leaving it blank. We live along the Alabama Gulf Coast (if you’ve ever seen Forest Gump, you’ve heard of my city), and this completes this wall.

Wrong color, mismatching clasps, terrible quality.
I wish I had read the other reviews prior to purchasing this. First - this isn't worth $50. Not even close. The material is cheap, thin, and almost flimsy.More importantly, I received the wrong color of the item. I really wanted the worn brass, as pictured above. The one I received is much darker and NOT antiqued or worn looking at all.MOST importantly, I received mismatching porthole clasps (the triangular bits that hold the window closed). One of them matches the window, the other is actually larger in size, and looks like it goes with the antiqued version I was supposed to receive. It's also a different size! What a waste of money, and a waste of my time.

Cool, but not worth the money.
Neat item, but not as anticipated. Heavy, but was very flimsy/loose when I opened the "hatch." No way to hang without screwing into wall. More gold than as depicted in photo, which I do not care for, and has tarnished from backsplash from kitchen sink. $20, maybe, but not nearly $50.

Pirate bed
These portholes were perfect for the bunk beds I built for a vacation rental house. Quality was great.

The finish is easy to scratch
Overall I really like this porthole. Would be nice if the finish was a little more durable. Just opening it can scratch the paint so you have to be pretty careful with it. Would also be nice if the mounting screws came the same color as the porthole especially for the top screw as that one shows even when it is closed. I used a black screw which blended in pretty well.I wanted to be able to open the porthole after it was mounted so that I can add or exchange a picture later. Mounting it flat to the wall prevented the porthole from opening as there was not enough clearance for the door to swing open. Simply using some picture frame silicone pads behind the porthole before mounting it allowed enough clearance for it to open.
