Best world globe I've yet found
Delighted with this globe, a new birthday gift several decades since I was a child! It's a good large size and the colours are beautiful, both with the gentle illumination and without. The raised relief brings it vividly to life and that's the special feature I wanted it for, as I'll not be using the interactive option. It's an excellent item, which could be made better still more by adding raised relief to the world's islands, since the only ones to have this are Greenland and Madagascar. I'd then certainly rate this globe up from 9.5/10 to a full 10/10.

Brilliant globe, perfect size and easy to read
I'm delighted with this globe, bought as a gift for 7year old girl - she loves it. Takes 2 AA batteries in a little internal light unit at the bottom of the globe, you need to pop the plastic arc off at the top and wiggle the globe off the light unit - just be careful that the top bit doesn't catch or scrape the surface of the world. Once it is lit up in the dark, the countries all change colour which is fantastic. Mountain ranges are raised - I wonder if a version could be made with the ocean trenches recessed? I'm delighted with this globe and would definitely recommend it.

Detail difficult to read
I had to balance size of globe to display - didn't want too big - and information on the globe. Size wise this is fine for me - doesn't take up too much room. However, the trade off is that some of the print is small and some countries also small. For instance United Kingdom is about 1 inch from top of Scotland to south coast England. So, depends on what you want from the globe as to the size you select. It doesn't rotate easily, you have to hold the arch holding the top and bottom of the globe whilst moving the globe itself. The led lights that illuminate the globe do a quite good job, you can see national boundaries easily even in daylight. I've only put in first set of batteries - a bit fiddly but not too bad. The instructions how to do this are printed on the carton the globe came in. I'm not keeping the carton (too bulky) I would have preferred a separate slip of paper with the instructions for me to refer to next time I need to change the batteries, could be a year or two away. Overall, good for the price. Serves my need for occasionally looking at a globe to see relative distances and shortest routes, etc.

Without a doubt the worse product I have ever bought on Amazon!
Where do I start? If you read most the reviews they are mostly good - however that was NOT my experience. When the pacage was deliverd I noticed stright away how light it was - that (to me) means CHEAP! I unboxed it and put it together. When I spun it it wobbled from side to side - that annoyed stright away. I put 2 AA batteries in to power the internal lamp & when I turned it on PATHETIC - only half the globe is light! It gets worse!! Its on-line discription says.... "When you turn the light on the globe displays the political map of the world" Mine certainaly DID NOT! Their was damage too - part of the outer skin was ripped! I also found a lot of the text on the globe fuzzy/ blurred! This globe is an OVERPICED cheap childs toy - I might have kept it if it wasent for the facy I paid £40/$50 for it. I am glad to report though that Amazon have been very prompt to reimburse me after returning this DEADFUL product. DO NOT WASTE YOURE MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE GLOBE!!

Nice graphics, back-lit political map. But not very sturdy.
UPDATE: I was contacted by the seller 6 months after receiving the globes. They apologized for the error and agreed to send a new globe. I received it within 3 days, and this time we DID receive a relief globe. My son was very happy to see the texture of the mountains. I ordered this globe for my son's 5th birthday, and when it arrived I opened the box and found that the globe was smooth (no relief texture for the mountains, as you can see in the photo). It is clearly labeled on the box that this should be a relief globe. I thought this might have been a packaging error, so I ordered another globe from Amazon as there was still enough time for it to ship before my son's birthday. Again, the same problem. No relief. I wrote to the manufacturer but received no reply. Aside from misrepresenting the texture on the globe, there are other issues: 1) the plastic of globe itself and the stand is not very strong, it may break easily, 2) the lamp is not very powerful and it can be difficult to see the political map unless the room is dark. This globe is well-suited for young children, while it may be a little less sturdy than others, it is inexpensive so you won't feel too bad when your 4-year old knocks it off the desk.

Great globe
Bought this globe after lot of research & studying reviews. Bought for our grand daughters 6th birthday. She loves it a do her parents! The globe is sturdy and visually attractive. The writing is clear and easy to read. Had some concerns as one review mentioned the mountain features was not a relief topography, merely a photo image, and another the light for looking at the globe in the dark was not very bright. We found the topography was raised and a good feeling when touching the outline of mountain ranges. The back light for the globe is good and bright. You have to fit the batteries with care! Overall, we are very pleased with the globe, have no misgivings about buying it and would gladly buy another one for our other grand daughters.

pro: very good detail and all but the smallest print is easily legible. the relief for mountains is a very cool feature. With the light on, the switch from geography to political markings is clear and useful. LED light with AA batteries should last a long time. con: plastic base and frame are very lightweight although sturdy so far. globe doesn't spin but does turn easily. doesn't appear to be very durable if mishandled but certainly is built well enough for mature use. overall: i'm very pleased with it and would purchase it again. its a good buy for the price and the raised mountains and cool light feature make it a lot more interesting for kids than a normal globe would be.

Pros: Up to date as far as South Sudan existing, beautiful and easy to interpret coloration and dimensional topography, loads of info that's easy to read (both text and even warm/cold ocean currents), and the light-up political boundaries feature allows it to convey that much more info without being overly cluttered. Cons: So unbelievably lightweight (especially the base) that I'm afraid it will overbalance and fall over if I look at it wrong, and it seems disturbingly delicate all over. It was a nervous operation, partially disassembling it to put batteries in and then reassembling. I'm shocked at how much it costs, given the quality (and amount) of materials in it. Beautiful and very informative, but terrible durability.
