Solid portable workstation, but it's no Thinkpad
I've gone through a total of eight Thinkpads in the last couple of years. Mostly because I buy they from recycling place and then a mate will turn up and say, you don't have another one one those...Really! So like a fool/good mate I sell them on for what I paid for them, but with that experience, starting with the i5-based X240, I've been deeply impressed by the quality of these machines. The Legion is no different but since I'd had a (cough) incident with one of of my Yoga machines and it was Prime Day I figured it was maybe time to splurge on something with a bit more "oomph" (I'm running Davinci Resolve, Blender, and stuff like that. As well as using it for word processing.I've got a bit to figure out but I really miss being able to just pop my thumb on a sensor to log in. I expect it supports Windows Hello facial recognition but that means letting the camera go live and that's a huge security hole. The good: it's fast and even the "weaker" 4060m chip is quite capable of running Cyberpunk at a decent lick with raytracing and so on. Included software has a function to use a single BT speaker as a rear channel for full (albeit simulated) surround sound. The large screen is bright, clear and capable of a pretty decent 165Hz vertical refresh on the desktop which is great for people who suffer with flicker-oriented eye strain. The bad: the full-form factor keyboard is a little narrow meaning the numeric keypad (an essential for Blender in particular) is fiddly but I guess I'll get used to that in time. The illumination is clearly designed for gamers with the multi-colour - ooo flashy, flashy light... but it's a distraction and I hope I can find a setting to at least tune the colour from the rainbow/blue that's currently on offer.Lenovo also assumed that the machine was already > four months old so I called Amazon and their help, as usual, is really good. I've submitted a proof of purchase to Lenovo but that's a little silly. The same seems to apply to the battery, but we'll see on that one. As with many modern machines there is no access to the battery, that means cracking the machine which isn't for everyone. The ugly: this beastie is LOUD and I mean as loud as machines used to be in the 1970s and 1980s. Intolerably so unless you're wearing headphones or can ignore it. It's also very hot to sit on a lap even when it's essentially just idling. The processor (capable of boosting beyond 3.5G) is ticking over at 1.8GHz and neither graphics process is running beyond 1% and yet, sitting on my lap my legs are already starting to burn (about 35C is the edge of comfort zone for most people). Make a nice hot water bottle for cooler evenings though.Professional reviewers have noted the machine's speed compared to others in this class and price range and it's said that the Lenovo is the fastest of the bunch. Perhaps this is a case of the Ai chip helping keep things cool?

Great laptop
The laptop is great, just no where was written that is used and I was surprised when arrived. The box was not even sealed and everyone could easily opened it. It was just written that it had 15%discount. I will use it, because it looks like new, except one small scratch on the lid.
