Asmodee Dobble Scouts Card Game

Purchased on a pre Xmas whim to freshen up the games options during the break. Great call - simplicity and ease of play. All cards have one overlapping/common picture - all you have to do is match up & call it out - seems simple but beware, can get fast & furious with a few players !!, so good fun. Number of variants for gameplay also, so you can play the same core game in a number of play options which is good - plenty of short guides on YouTube to show you the way. Bought this set for my own family (teenagers +), but ended up buying 2 different sets for friends younger kids (kids versions has numbers and easier shapes to match up) & the younger kids loved it also. Games are short & quick which is good, so useful as a gap filler but won’t drag out. Despite its simplicity in concept, can be testing on the brain to see what’s directly in front of you, which adds to the fun. Would recommend to be added to the family game stock, and easy to carry cards in the can provided. Can see this one in the holiday bag, with Quirkle and Skyjo…

I think the rules should be pre agreed and adjusted to the players. This means we can all play together, including our youngest player, and it still be competitive and fun. That is rare in all but the best family games, to level the playing field and still enjoy the game as a so-called grown-up. It is also a game I would play without the kids. Its small tin lends itself to being transportable so it can be taken anywhere. It fits in your handbag if you are off to the pub and need something to amuse the younglings. It fits in hand luggage if you are travelling, and you could even play it on one of the fold down trays on a coach, train or plane. It would probably even fit in a bum bag (fanny pack to American readers) if those things still exist. There is even a waterproof version for playing outdoors in the great British summer. As I mentioned Dobble is also available in different themes such as Harry Potter and Star Wars. These have a good look and appeal to the fan bases. For me though, you can’t beat this original version for the whole family to enjoy. In short, Dobble delivers.

This is such fab game, pretty cool for just two people but so much fun for a small group!There are 5 ways to play but they're all pretty similar. We tend to stick to the same way of playing though.There are 55 very attractive cards which are packaged (along with instructions) in a strong and sturdy tin. The tin is colourful and small enough that it can be stored in a drawer or box without fear of damaging the cards or the tin opening.The aim of the game is to match a single picture on your card to the 'in play' card. It's not as easy as it sounds as the images are all different sizes and I can be quite tricky (especially under pressure, as other people are matching their cards). It's a lot of fun and also encourages you to be more observant.There are 55 cards and over 50 colourful symbols and images of the collective cards. One symbol on each card matches each individual card, it's extremely clever.The aim of the game is basically to match more symbols, depending on he way you play you will either aim to get rid of your cards before the other players or you will try to collect more cards by matching symbols than other players. There are other mini games but these, I feel are the main ones and the ones we play more frequently.It's a super fun game and while it does say that it is for ages 6+, my 4 year old always tries to play along and I believe it has helped him to think more quickly, to match images and to be more observant. There is however a children's version (wich we also have), which just has animal pictures and as such is easier for little ones (but still fun for grownups).While it is definitely better for older children, my son sometimes chooses to play this version with us instead and while we tend to give him more of a chance and keep quiet when we have a match, it usually ends up with him winning in the end because we can't match our last few cards as quickly as him.Over all I would recommend this game to absolutely everyone. It's fun and funny and really gets your mind going. I think it would also be great for kids in the back of a car on a long journey as well as at home or at a party.I recently bought another of these as a gift and would definitely buy again in the future.

My kids love to play with this. The cards are sturdy and it comes in a box.
