I had a bit of a scare when I had my dog out on her prong collar and it came unclasped. Thankfully I was able to get a handle on her. I had a difficult time trying to find a safety strap of good quality, but Herm Sprenger is well known for their quality. At first, I was a little concerned with the size of the clips (I have a Belgian Malinois), but they seem pretty heavy duty given their size. Besides, the whole point is to keep the dog contained so it cannot get away. It’s pretty easy to use and the length is adjustable. Just be careful not to get it tangled up in the chain of the prong collar while walking.

It is too long for its purpose and it doesn’t keep the length you set. It extends to the max length after using it for a minute.

I use this to ensure that in the event my dogs training collar releases (has safety release), my dog is still securely attached to the leash. So far, it works well! The added security gives me peace of mind when walking her in the city.

This is definitely one of those things you want to have before you need it. Keeps your puppy attached to the leash, even if the prong collar comes off somehow.

I mean it's a Herm Sprenger. How do you go wrong with this selection.

I was worried the quality might have dropped since I last purchased one but I needn't have worried.

I bought this safety clip and then returned it because the slide was getting loose and making the safety clip extend to its longest setting. I would correct the sizing by shortening the clip length, during our walk, but a few minutes later it would be fully extended again. I returned the product and ordered a new one, hoping the new one wouldn't have the same issue, but it does. Seems to be a design flaw which is not what I would not expect from Herm Sprenger. I'd return my second clip but I already thew away the packaging. If anyone has good suggestions for a quality safety clip please let me know!
