I bought this after sifting thru several reviews and comparisons on YouTube. I was just about to send it back because it didn't come close to the sample videos that I watched for this model. Or so I thought... I was outside giving it one more try before I boxed it up and sent it back... When I first used it the images were very out of focus. People standing just 30 ft away were just indistinguishable red blobs. I cycled thru the various color schemes and nothing helped... Then purely by accident i discovered if I long press a couple of buttons (Zoom or Brightness) I could then focus the image. What a difference... Everything is clear at significant distances. For the price I'm very impressed.So here's what I like about it. The price. The features on this unit are considerably more costly with other well known brands. Compare the AGM Taipan TM15-256 for example. It has close to the same features as this unit but it's about $200 more. One feature that made me choose this unit over others is that it has a removable battery. I can swap out the battery if it runs out or I can replace the battery if it goes bad. Other units have built in batteries. It has BT and Wifi so you can connect and view it on your phone if you want. It's smaller than other units so its comfortable and small enough to carry in your pocket. With the 50hz refresh rate the video is very smooth. Other brands have a 25hz refresh rate at this price point so I think it would make the video choppy. You can mount it on a tripod if you want. The unit arrived in about 4 days so I was pleased with that. The packaging is better than I expected.What I don't like: The unit seems pretty durable and solid however there's one thing I don't like about it. The rubber eye piece that goes over the viewing screen falls off the unit very easily. If you just bump it or pull it out of your pocket there is a very good chance the eyepiece is going to fall off... I've lost it a couple times already and had to retrace my steps to find it. Not good if you're in complete darkness. This is the reason I gave it 3 stars for durability. The front lens cover has a lanyard to secure it so I wish they would have done the same with the eyepiece. The instructions that come with the unit are somewhat vague so learning how to set it up is mostly trial and error. Again it would have been returned had I not figured out how to adjust the focus.Overall I like this unit and would definitely recommend it.

I purchased this for night hunting small game at home in New Zealand. The trial runs I gave it in the US have exceeded my expectations.

Very grainy picture. For a little more money buy a pulsar you'll be happier.

***Everything was going well until it didn't. After a couple of weeks it lost focus and was a blurry mess. I was able to return it for a full refund. They do take care of their customers. Just wished it would have been better.***I wasn't expecting much. I definitely got my money's worth. I'm very pleased with the results! The recording off the app is simple.

The media could not be loaded. *Update 4/16/2024: It seems like they updated the App because the recent videos I recorded also recorded the audio. Good for them. I took this on a game drive and was super happy with the results. At night I was able to spot animals that no one else could with just flashlights. Without stabilization and the narrow FOV it was very hard to use when moving. My brother and I switched between who had the camera and who had the cell phone with App to record videos and picture. This would have been very difficult to do if I was by myself since you have to use the cellphone to record media.I've been wanting to try an IR camera for a long time. I think I got lucky with this being my first one. It does a lot of things right. The display through the eyepiece is surprisingly nice. Having a removable battery means this thing will last for years, or at least won't be limited by a dead internal battery. The buttons are nice, and menu is pretty easy to navigate once you get used to it. The laser lines up nicely with the target on the display. The video feeds at 50hz which is higher than others I've seen in this price range. And you get a lot of use out of a charged battery. It even has a setting to turn off the green indicator light so you can be stealthier. It's also small enough to fit in pants pockets. In my limited use it is cool to check which cars had warm or cool engines and looking at my house to see where insulation is lacking. I was even able to see where my wall studs are because they warmed up the drywall they are touching.The app works really well. I actually waited a long time to do this review because I wanted to try the app first. I was nervous about using an app with 3.2 stars and only 48 reviews. I finally installed it on an extra Pixel 4a I had laying around. I haven't had any issues with it so far. You can change all the normal setting plus a few extra and you can also take pictures/record videos. I still have concerns about security therefore I won't put it on my main phone. This is for no particular reason other than that fact that this isn't a mainstream company and it's not well vetted in my opinion.The bad: It needs a back of the hand strap like old school camcorders had. This is by far my biggest complaint. It has a wrist strap/lanyard, but it just feels weird to not have a strap to hold your hand up against it. I also wish the app would record audio with the video. It would be nice to have for reference and I feel it could just use the microphone on the phone to accomplish this. Obviously, a bigger sensor would be great but at this price point I think its adequate. I find it hard to tell when images are in focus. This could have something to do with the lower resolution. The Wi-Fi setting doesn't stay on when you turn it off, so you have to turn it on every time you want to use the app. I wish it had some more nitty gritty settings like the ability to stop it from auto adjusting the temperature display ratio or see numbers or a readout of temperatures. I do realize this is more for hunting and not scientific or industrial use. It would be nice if it had the ability to record internally but for the price, using a phone and app works for me. Lastly, if you move to a different temperature scene the camera does some sort of calibration and freezes the video for a few seconds.Even though I had a lot of "bad" things to say I really like this IR camera. I'd be curious to try some other products from this company.
