Modern Extendable Ceiling Airer to Maximise Drying Space Up to 1.4m

I installed this in my kitchen near the washing machine '. The kitchen gets heat from the oven ' and has extraction for moisture and smells '.I usually put the airer down when not 🚫 in use ' to prevent any cooking grease building up on the rungs ' but it should make life easier in the winter ' because i can also plug in a descent sized oil filled electric radiator to save on electric ' and there's a fan heater on the wall to aid with circulation if needed '.It's a good idea 💡 to get some steps to fit this ' and you do have to be careful not 🚫 to hit lighting cable's with the screw in rope roller's '.I would recommend getting a proper tradesman to fit this ' cos he should have any tools ' and is less likely to make any mistake's with installation '.I am a qualified plumbing and heating engineer ' and if you are unable to fasten the screw's into your sealing ' then it may be possible to assemble this onto a length of CLS ( Canadian Lumber Stock ) and glue it to the cieling with a contact adhesive sealant like CT1 . CT1 is a quick drying building adhesive ' and if the whole of the join between CLS and the cieling is glued ' then after curing ' it should hold the weight of most washing ' but obviously it's unlikely to take the weight of a small child hanging on it ' so seek advice before fixing to your particular type of cieling '.

The product is very good - it's lightweight, so the only real weight is the wet laundry. The bars don't seem entirely straight when fully extended (flexing at the expansion points) but hopefully this will not prove a weak point. I did encounter a problem with installation, however. The supplied pulley wheels have built in screws, which is a nice idea, as you just manually screw the pulley into the ceiling. Unfortunately, theses screws were not long enough to extend through the ceiling boards and into the joist. Since the screws could not be replaced, I have had to spend more money on alternative pulley wheels on a back plate, that I could put my own, long (120mm) screws through to ensure that the device was safely installed. This was irritating, as it made the product almost £20 more expensive and the pulley wheels were not easy to come by (local big name builders merchants don't stock them, so I had to search online - nothing available on Amazon). I would suggest that the manufacturer supplies a different pulley system in future, so that customers can choose the required screw length. Once a suitable pulley system was purchased, it was just a case of measuring carefully to drill in the right places - installation was very straightforward.

Great product and quality, just a little smaller than I imagined, would be ideal for a smaller household we are 5.

I was a bit concerned about this when I opened the box. However it is really strong and has saved so much space in my flat. You will need a electronic metal detecting tool to locate the joists and installation takes a bit of time. Was a little confused by the instructions but made sense in the end. A real space saving solution that need a bit of time to install.

This isn't the biggest airer, but fits my utility room perfectly. I leave it extended all the time. The fittings and instructions were clear and relatively easy to install. I regularly hang heavy wet towels and bed linen out, and it seems to be able to cope without any sign of anything pulling out of the ceiling (which was my main concern). String may need replacing at some point, as it will start to fray going through the pulley eventually but I'm a bit lazy and leave it up at ceiling height and throw things over it, rather than lowering and lifting it all the time which helps avoid the issue. It is very lightweight, but appears to be robust enough for the job.

Does what it says on the packet. Slightly flimsy but I don’t put on heavy items like jeans and jumpers. Only bought it for air drying baby’s light clothing for everyday washing that can be kept off floor rack and high above. Very good value for money.

Good size and easy install. Sturdy pulleys and rope. Only slightly disappointed in bar rigiditywhen on full extension. There is noticeable sag in the bars and even without clothes on it the bars look bent. Thought they would be more robust. This is not a low cost item but the bars lower the quality look.Works well though
