Humax A1 4K Official Android TV 11 Streaming Box with Google Voice Assistant built-in Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, WiFi 5, Bluetooth, SD Card Slot, USB 2.0 x 2

I bought this because it had an optical out for my soundbar, which I don’t have on my TV. Happy to say it works without losing sound sync with the picture. Easy to set up, does what it is supposed to. For those uncertain, note that this does not support BBC apps (or other UK channel based apps).

It Was easy to install so simple.

seemed a great box to start with played my mkv files with the right program. The only problem with the unit is if you leave it in standby (off by the remote) it eventually comes back on then if you leave it on it freezes up and you have to unplug the mains, waut a bit and then plug back in. Not ideal when you just want to watch something, you have to wait for it to reboot. I have an amazon firetv but the problem with that is it doesn`t recognise my movie drive formatted in NTFS, hence the reason why I bought this one. The 1st one was replaced after a little messing about, try this and that and on a different tv, etc. This new one just does the same, must be an inherant bug. Bought this as Humax seemed a good make but might as well of stuck with the cheapos at least you expect problems. Not very impressed at all! Gave 2 stars as the unit plays the things i want otherwise would`ve been 0!!

Although it's advertised as android, it is limited in the range of apps you can access, so not even allowed to get to BBC iPlayer amongst others. If you have a smart TV then this box will offer you nothing extra.

Working well be on expections

The box is very snappy in operation and has very good connection options. It currently doesn't have the UK catchup apps from BBC/ITV/STV/ALL 4 and Channel 5. But the major problems with this streaming box is that it doesn't have Automatic Match Frame Rate for content in 24/50/60hz that uses these frame rates, so you have to keep switching manually between these frame rates. The other major problem is it does not have an option to select Source Direct for the resolution of the content being shown to allow the display device to do the upscaling or downscaling. These are basic settings that this streaming box can't currently do, so as far as i'm concerned make it unfit for purpose. That's the reasons why i can't recommend this streaming box and why i sent it back for a refund.

Let's get one thing out of the way. This unit is ARC equipped, so if you turn on your telly it will come on automatically. The only way to get around that is to disable HDMI ARC or HDMI control of devices in your settings in the TV menu. On my LG tv it's Settings/All settings/Devices/HDMI Settings/ SIMPLINK ( HDMI-CEC) button in OFF position. Generally speaking it's a good unit quick responding and good value for money. Highly recommended.

I have a Google Chromecast with TV so naturally assumed TV apps would be similar. I should have read the reviews! Without key apps like BBC iPlayer this next to useless in the UK. Am returning, but sort it out Humax!

Absolutely well done to Humax , great system and easy setup!

Pro:- The product is nice and smooth. Pictures are clear and HD with fast and reposonsive remote. Has Ethernet port, Optical, 2 USB and SD slot which is much better than their competitor. Cons:- Wish they had given more info in the packaging (booklet) about using the remote (as a new user like me) eg. How and where to use the bookmark 🔖 button and what is the TV 📺 button on the remote used for. Overall I am happy and impressed with this product. Much better than buying the unbranded ones.
