It works!
Really surprised how well this mic sounded and worked. I’ve used it for interviews connected to my iPhone 15 and plugged into pro cinema cameras. Good isolation, full sound and tone.

superb
Brilliant product, exactly what i needed, a wirelss shotgun mic to use with mirrorless, it works great, lots of good features, just a brilliant product, and even comes in a case which holds it all together, and its compact. Not a single improvement i could think of. Brilliant design.

Worked flawlessly and immediately
Product arrived charged straight out of the box. I bought this on impulse after hearing it mentioned. My original plan was to mount it on the camera for filming myself outdoors. Then I realised that it would make more sense to hand hold it just out of shot. I used it with the ‘dead cat’ hairy windscreen. Results were superb: no handling noise, no wind noise. I was originally going to cut the Comica label off the windscreen but I didn’t need too. Sound quality was noticeably better and quieter than the lavalier/tie clip wi-fi mic I was using before. Really delighted with this. Exceeded expectations.

No issues, wireless is very useful
This is the first mic I have bought so I don’t really have a reference point to compare it too but it’s been very good for me so far. I’ve used it in the making of one short film and it was good, the ability to use it wirelessly is also very handy. Would definitely recommend, but again I don’t have anything to compare it too so I can’t give a judgement on the price to performance compared to other mics.

Works as advertised. Great to be able to use the microphone remotely. Seems to connect seamlessly every time.

Good sound, flexible modes including wireless, no digital output from wireless receiver though
A shotgun microphone is one that records only the sound directly in front of it. This Comica model has a nice feature: wireless support via a small wireless receiver. What you get in the box is the microphone, a wireless receiver, a USB cable, two analogue 3.5mm cables (one three-pole and one four-pole), a windscreen, a windmuff, a microphone clip for tripod mount, and a shock mount for mounting with resistance to external vibration. There are quite a few modes of use here. Both the microphone and the receiver are powered with internal rechargeable batteries. On the microphone itself is a USB charging port which doubles as a USB digital audio out, for which you can use the supplied cable. I like that the cable has both USB-C and a USB-A adaptor. There is also a 3.5mm analogue output port. For wireless use, the receiver pairs to the microphone and has both an analogue output port and a headphone port for monitoring. The receiver also has a USB-C port for charging, but this one does NOT support digital output which was a disappointment. On the microphone itself you can adjust output gain, low pass filter at 75 or 150 Hz (handy for reducing voice pops) and a high frequency boost. There is also a safety mode which works only with wired output. Safety mode means one channel is recorded at lower level than the other, so if one is distorted the other may be OK. A tiny display on the microphone shows whether normal or safety mode is active. This display also shows battery level. Battery life for both microphone and receiver is up to 7 hours. The whole lot comes packed in a useful zipped case. I like the microphone and got good results from voice recording which is my main use. The low pass filter is very useful. The little LED display on the microphone showing level might be useful if you are recording someone else, but is likely not to be visible if you are recording yourself. The one on the wireless receiver is OK, if you are using wireless mode. The microphone clip has to be carefully positioned not to cover ports on the microphone; the shock mount is easier in this respect. What is a bit of shame is that there is no digital output from the receiver. Of course you can get round this with an audio interface but it would be handy just to connect the receiver direct to a PC or Mac. Still, what’s more important is the decent sound quality and I’m pleased with it overall.

Versatile and Reliable for Filmmakers and Content Creators
The Comica VM30 shotgun microphone is an exceptional audio tool designed to meet the demands of both filmmakers and content creators. With its impressive features, including wired and wireless modes, digital/analog output, low cut filters, and versatile compatibility, the VM30 offers a reliable solution for capturing high-quality audio in various recording situations. In this review, I will delve into the microphone's performance, build quality, usability, and overall value. Performance and Audio Quality: The VM30 excels in delivering exceptional audio performance. Its super-cardioid polar pattern ensures focused sound capture, effectively reducing ambient noise and providing clear and crisp audio. Whether you're shooting a film scene or conducting interviews, this microphone captures sound with remarkable precision and depth. The low-cut filters at 75Hz and 150Hz, as well as the “safety mode” are handy for reducing unwanted low-frequency rumble, making it suitable for a wide range of recording scenarios. Wired and Wireless Modes: The inclusion of both wired and wireless modes is a standout feature of the VM30. In wired mode, the microphone can be easily connected to cameras, smartphones, or PCs via the provided cables, ensuring seamless integration with various devices. On the other hand, the wireless mode offers the freedom to record audio without being constrained by cables, making it ideal for dynamic shooting environments. The microphone's wireless range is impressive, providing reliable connectivity without compromising on audio quality. I have tested it up to 150 meters, and the signal was still flawless, without any drop. Digital/Analog Output: The VM30 caters to the needs of both digital and analog audio setups. The digital output option allows for a direct connection to devices with USB-C digital inputs, preserving audio integrity throughout the signal chain. Alternatively, the analog output provides compatibility with devices that require an analog audio signal. This flexibility makes the VM30 a versatile choice for both modern and traditional recording setups. Build Quality and Design: Comica has paid careful attention to the build quality of the VM30. The microphone boasts a robust construction, ensuring durability and reliability even in demanding shooting conditions. The inclusion of a shock mount significantly reduces handling noise and vibrations, enabling smooth and uninterrupted audio recording. The sleek and compact design of the microphone enhances its portability, making it easy to carry and use on the go. The addition of the included transportation/storage case was also a nice plus to have. Usability and Compatibility: The VM30 is designed with usability in mind, catering to the needs of both professionals and beginners. Its plug-and-play functionality allows for effortless setup and operation, eliminating the need for complex configurations. The microphone is compatible with a wide range of devices, including cameras, smartphones, and PCs, making it suitable for filmmakers, vloggers, and content creators across different platforms. Value and Conclusion: The Comica VM30 shotgun microphone offers an excellent balance of features, performance, and affordability. Its ability to deliver high-quality audio in both wired and wireless modes, along with the inclusion of low-cut filters and versatile compatibility, makes it a valuable tool for filmmakers and content creators. Whether you're capturing professional-grade video footage or recording content for social media, the VM30 proves to be a reliable and versatile companion. With its impressive capabilities, the Comica VM30 is undoubtedly a worthwhile investment for those seeking a reliable and feature-packed shotgun microphone.

The most versatile shotgun microphone kit yet!
I've reviewed a few Comica products and I've never been disappointed. The CVM-VM30 is no exception. This super cardioid shotgun microphone performs just as well as (if not better than) its predecessor, the CVM-VM20. But the new VM30 takes it to another level with its wireless functionality. Think of press conferences, conventions, meetings, etc. You can place the microphone on the table/stage/podium and get clear audio while you film from the back of the room. You can also install this on a boom arm and not have to worry about tripping over cables. I'm sure the sound guys would also appreciate the lack of a heavy aux cable. This kit has pretty much everything you could need, including a mic stand mount, cold shoe mount, TRS to TRS cable, and a USB-C to USB-C charging cable with a Type-A adapter. Oddly enough they also included a TRRS to TRRS cable. However, please note that the wireless receiver only uses the TRS standard. So if you want to use this with your smartphone you will need a TRS to TRRS cable, which is not included with this kit. Overall the Comica CVM-VM30 is an innovative product. Solidly built, captures great audio, and allows users to get creative with its versatility. Happy shopping!
