Great Game Exceeded Expectations
Got this game when it was on sale after the 2.0 update and am so happy I did. The game is solid and scratches that Dark Souls itch. The gameplay is challenging but will be familiar for fans of From style games. I appreciate that the difficulty is still engaging, but not frustrating or exhausting. The lamp mechanic used to traverse between the two different realms is unique and leaves a lot of secrets to be discovered. The environments are engrossing and well detailed. The art direction is like a heavy metal album cover. The developers clearly put a lot of polish and hard work into the game.I highly recommend this game if you like Dark Souls or Dark Fantasy RPGs in general. Im very picky with modern games, but this one is checked all the boxes for me. First game in a while where I can’t wait to get off work and play.

Hard but satisfying
I don't watch any online gameplay videos so no help. This game is pretty challenging. It has it's soulborne similarities but you go in-between real and a umbral spirit dimension which ads more enemies. You have to switch sometimes between them to progress. Also when enemies deplete your health you enter the umbral dimension and have to find waypoints that return you to the living. Has lots of weapon upgrades but no real armored upgrades just a downgrade the lightens item while taking away stats. It also has different selection of randomizers and handicaps you can equip. The beginning is a little slow to figure out and lots of hidden paths . The map makes this game even harder as it's just a picture as reference. I played this after elden ring so it took me a while to quit hitting elden ring controller buttons. Got it for 19.99 and put about 170 hours into it

Really fun game to scratch the Dark Souls itch.
I first tried this game when it released and I did not like it; however, over the last year, the game has seen plenty of updates and has had a lot of new content added. The game feels closest in gameplay and style to "Dark Souls 3." The game is beautiful and graphically impressive. The developers really nailed their art style and the world is extremely fun to explore. There are even in-game modifiers like "Randomized enemies/items" to make each playthrough unique, so even console player can have those kinds of experiences without the need for mods. My first playthrough took me ~40 hours to beat with me attempting to explore ever nook and cranny; I have gone on to platinum the game on PS5. I loved the game and would recommend it to anyone who wants to scratch the "Dark Souls" itch with a game not developed by FromSoftware.

Awesome game
Awesome game . The best souls like game I've ever played . It's very similar to demons souls . Definitely worth the 20 bucks and with the 2.0 update you can play the entire game with a friend online without them having to buy it .

Great game not too challenging
I absolutely loved "Lords of the Fallen" on PS5! If you're a fan of the Souls-like genre but sometimes find them a bit too punishing, this is the game foryou. It's got all the dark fantasy atmosphere, challenging combat, and epic boss fights you expect, but it's much more forgiving. You'll still die, but it never feels unfair or overly frustrating. The world is beautiful and eerie, the combat is weighty and satisfying, and there's plenty to explore.Perfect for veterans looking for a slightly less brutal experience, or newcomers who want to dive into a Souls-like without getting completely overwhelmed. Highly recommend!

Challenging, Dark, and Gorgeous
This game is a total visual feast with an intense, immersive atmosphere. If you’re into Souls-like combat, this is for you. The mechanics are solid, the bosses are epic, and the world design is beautifully brutal. Definitely worth the grind.

I WANT to like this game
I never played the first LOTF but got pretty excited for the trailers for this one. It looked like the developers really learned their lessons and were trying some very different for the souls formula. And maybe, they got a little too different. The umbral world mechanic is very cool and makes exploring a lot more interesting than other souls games. I absolutely loved “lies of p” but it was incredibly linear. This is not. And actually, to a fault. It’s easy to get lost and I’ve found myself going to the internet several times to figure out where to go next. Sometimes the layouts are just nonsensical.Graphically the game is maybe one of the best, if not THE best looking souls styled games out there. Unfortunately it comes with a very heavy price that has been mentioned in a number of reviews already; the frame rate. If the goal was to emulate the first dark souls, they absolutely nailed the feel of blight town since LOTF’s own poison swamp is absolutely bogged down with stutter.Part of the technical issues comes from one of the other negatives about the game: there are way too many enemies on screen at any given time that really artificially ramps up the difficulty. Obviously that cause some bad performance issues since there’s just a ton of things happening on screen at once, but it also just ruins the experience. It’s very hard to feel like the game comes down to skill when you’re always absolutely surrounded by enemies and, typically, endlessly spawning enemies at that. Almost every death feels cheap and like there isn’t much you can do about it. You’ll easily end up in situations where you have ten to twenty “soldier” enemies around you, several heavy enemies, all while being tagged from a distance by archers or casters that do unprecedented damage. It is not fun. It is not balanced. It doesn’t feel like something you can really “get good” at.I was looking forward to this game, I’ve played and finished a lot of souls-likes, even platinuming the fromsoft classics, but I really don’t know that I’ll end up seeing this through to completion. If you have to choose between the two, get “lies of p”
