Fantastic for lots of scenarios
This little USB HUB is absolutely tiny however you can see from the construction of the case and the way it's packaged that it's a higher quality unit. It features 3 standard USB ports and one that is for charging. To use the charging port to its full potential you have to plug it into the wall with the included 5V adapter. The unit shows you whether the HUB is using power from the USB connection or Power through an LED on the top. Good points about this item: - Looks fantastic and the size enables it to be used in multiple scenarios. - The ports all worked and were plug and play on Linux (Debian more specifically) and Windows 8.1 - The charging port is quicker than the standard USB port for charging my phone. - The cables provided are of a high quality - Doesn't require power to run the main 3 USB ports. Bad points: - The power adapter is pretty chunky. - The case is a fingerprint and dust magnet. Overall this little USB hub is great and doesn't look god awful (in my opinion) like some of the others available. Would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a HUB and it's verified for the Raspberry Pi as well so it can offer you more USB ports plug and play on that device. 5/5

Excellent for powering/joining long USB cable runs
I bought this hub for a slightly unusual reason. I needed to connect two long USB 2.0 cables (over 8 Metres in total) to go from my PC upstairs to a freeview recorder box downstairs. You definitely need additional power for this long a cable run so I decided to buy a powered ('active') USB hub to join the cables. It has done the job really well. It comes with a PSU so I was up and running straight away. I've never had a dropped connection and performance seems very good. LED indicator lights show activity and status on each port. It's very neat and compact for a hub - it doesn't take up much desk space and looks nice next to my aluminium PC case. It comes with a quite long USB 2.0 cable to connect it to the PC. It was recognised straight away by Windows XP and 2000 without any messing about. It works fine in its more traditional role of connecting multiple USB devices to a single port on my PC. I don't bother using its separate PSU for this task and it works fine without it. All in all, very happy. Even though it's perhaps relatively expensive for a 4 port USB 2.0 hub, I think it's worth it.

Nice piece of kit and well priced!
Had to get this unit replaced as it failed to recognise devices that were attached to it via USB, apparently something to do with the IOS version I was using, anyway received a replacement from manufacturer and they had updated the software and I have had no issues - D-Link stuff is reliable and well built, recommeded! Included two charging USB ports very handy for all the portable devices!

Pictures are entirely inaccurate
Item was sent with an EU plug, not a UK plug. The hub uses a USB-B port with a USB-A plug, not the USB-C connection shown in the pictures. The item does not have a blue LED on top despite the picture showing one. Item appeared to have genuine box but I assume it’s a fake product due to the numerous inaccurate descriptions.

Does the job & looks good
Very nice piece of kit.I bought one to replace a cheap ugly thing that looked unnaceptably naff next to my new PC and also didn't work particularly well.OK so its a hub and its hard to get very excited but it seems well built with a bit more substance than some in this price range.Dead easy to set up,so far it has worked very well & its nice looking & compact enough to sit on my desk & look extremely businesslike.Personally I like the compact chunkiness of it plus its great value and it works. What more can you ask of it ?

A competent hub that does the job
I've had cheaper USB hubs, but this one is much better than any so far. Firstly, its powered (it needs a power socket), but this means it can deal with power-hungry devices like external USB hard drives, without overloading. You don't have to have the power on for low-power devices like memory sticks. Secondly its robust - it doesn't fall of the desk all the timen and its got little rubber feet so it doesn't slip about. Its got a full set of indicator lights. OK, its nothing to get that excited about but it does the job with no problems. I'd buy it again, and that's recommendation enough I think.

Sent different hub from picture
I can't really write a review on the hub pictured (sleek looking piano black one), because I was sent a different looking hub (ugly silver/grey thing)! I was a bit miffed because it is too go under my TV as part of media centre, and aesthetically the one I was actually sent looks awful! It performs well enough (powering wireless keyboard, wifi dongle) with my raspberry pi though...

Amazing 4 port powered hub
I bought this hub to allow me to allow me to extend the distance between computer and my Midi Keyboard controllers (USB bus powered). First off the size of this is amazing (6x6cm 2cm high) so it's tiny and the PSU has a decent length of cable, PC BIOS & Windows 8 Pro immediately saw this hub and configured it with no extra drivers required. Another bonus is I've seen no issues of cross talking which can happen when using multiple USB Midi devices connected through the same hub.

Over the past month with using this USB hub, I have no issues with it whatsoever. I usually have a cooling mat, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and an external hooked up to it at all times and have no trouble with lack of power. Nice little hub, and I am kind of a person who does not mind the bright LCD lights on the front, I actually kinda like it. This was well worth it.
