SmoothSkin Bare Ultrafast IPL Hair Removal System, Black

Just for general information before getting to the 10-Week review, I am a half-asian, half-white male with light white to tan skin (I'm an indoor person that doesn't get much sun) and jet black hair. I'm 5'6" and weigh in at around 160 lbs.So I have been using the SmoothSkin Bare IPL for 10 weeks so far on everything below the neck (and I do mean everything) other than my arms - those I've only been doing for about 3 weeks now, so for the purpose of this review I'm omitting any results there.The TL;DR summary is I've seen a noticeable reduction in hair growth in most areas, though the amount is different depending on where. Not a complete removal of hair, but less grows back, growth is a touch slower, and the hair is slightly less prickly.Previous to using the IPL, whenever I would shave (again, from the neck down) there would be noticeable stubble within hours and the smooth feeling would be out after about half a day. After about 24-36 hours, the sandpaper effect would be on and I'd damage my (satin) sheets when sleeping due to tossing and turning. I'd figure I'd give the SmoothSkin Bare a try mostly because it was supposed to be the fastest and least fussy of any of the in-home IPL/Laser treatment options and knowing myself if it was a slow, annoying process I'd most likely stop using it.Using the device is rather straightforward...in most places there's no pain at all (as long as you have shaved and have no exposed hair) though there are a few exceptions if you're not thorough shaving (a slight, very manageable sting...think slightly less than a rubber band snap though there's a bit of a 'smell' of charred hair) or in the pubic regions (likely due to the darker skin) which I believe is not the intended use for this product (though I've done it anyway).It takes a bit for me to get my entire body through (this is why I've just started the arms, I'm doing those at a different cycle) - I typically shave everything, get a nice shower, then use the IPL all over so it's a bit of a process - using the device is actually really quick (sometimes it need an extra half a second than normal but it's generally quick), not much it could do to be faster...it's just more of a surface area thing (being only moderately fit, I need to lose a few pounds like almost everyone!). It's exceedingly simple to use, I just hold the button in and 'glide' (most of the time) over the areas.Now, as to the rating - I may update later as treatment goes on, but I'm going to continue to use it in hopes that I see even further reduced hair growth (or, fingers crossed, removal). It's not an instant cure-all, the first few weeks I saw almost no real changes. Once it got to the 4-5 week period of using it once a week there started to be a change, noticing less hair and some of the hair (albeit somewhat patchy) was less coarse. It seems to be a linear change, every couple weeks there being a bit less and less and less in most areas which is why I'm going to continue to use it! Ultimately I just want to get to the point where I don't have to shave all the time and just treat areas as needed!For some of the areas here are some of the estimates after the 10-week period so far:Lower legs - 65% less hairUpper legs - 75% less hairPubic Region - 25% less hairBackside - 35% less hairBack - 45% less hairMidsection - 30% less hairChest - 35% less hairUnderarms - 35% less hairSo it seems like certain areas are taking it more than others...but as long as the reduction continues I'll continue to use the product!

This review will be updated by timelapse where I report the graduale results every fourth to eighth Wednesday as a means for consistant review. I am a 173cm aproxamately 160lb tall male half white half filipino. I am not that hairy but I do have dark brown hair so they should be effected as advertised. I usually wear longsleeves and pants on the daily basis, occasionally and at work.Starting today Wednesday, 5/23/2018, I conducted my first every laser/IPL hair removal treatment on my arms (elbow to hands), pubic mound and bikini area (not on the genitals), buttox (not between), and full legs to the top of the feet. This device shall be used every Wednesday from now on. I would like to try my face however the manual says not to use it on a mans' face because male facial hair is too dense, I wonder what this means, is it the closeness of the folicals per cm² or the thickness of the hair shaft itself?5/23/2018 - The sensation is interesting the manual said to shave as opposed to trimming and I know why, it felt like a very tiny burn probably because the trimmed hairs are still long enough to touch the filter (I am used to using the epilator, so this is not a big deal in terms of "pain") . Then after the flash I felt a warm sensation as if it was a mini beach sun rays on my skin. It did not take long getting used to, I made 3 flashes over the same areas maybe 2 or 4 if I lost count but I did flash more than once. I will be back 4-8 weeks from now to update.

Listen, I dont know if this works yet but I'm just happy that it was pain-free so I'm giving it five stars. I'll be back in a few weeks and tell ya'll how it goes.Edit #1: at 5 weeks, I haven't seen any results.Edit #2: I bought this in January and it's now June. I havent seen any results whatsoever and what's worse, the product has some weird white stuff growing from the inside. Avoid at all costs.Edit #3: it is now 2020 and this is forgotten in my closet. Just wanted to clarify; I fit all the descriptions necessary for this to work and it's a total scam. Please do not waste your money.

First of all it does not work and I have been using this for 2 months now and so far my chest hair are getting thicker due to me shaving them every week. Plus I contacted the manufacturer to return the product three times now and still no respond from them! they keep saying they will email me about it and its been more than 10 days now and I got no email from them.Do not wast your time and energy on this product.

I bought this product over it's stronger sister device, Glow, specifically because it touted being faster. Problem is, I can't get through even 1/2 of one leg before it starts slowing down to 1 flash per second, if not slower. I just timed myself and it took me 30 minutes to get through my "whole body." Not 10; 30.If I was going to spend 30 minutes doing this I would have chosen the Glow instead because it's stronger, and with it one doesn't need as frequent of treatments. But having to dedicate 30 minutes of my time every 👏🏼week 👏🏼isn't feasible for me has lead to a lack of compliance in the necessary schedule to see any real, lasting benefits.FWIW, this does work (kinda). After just 2 treatments/weeks I was able to shave less, but I really wish the company would either make a more effective fan or quit making promises they can't keep because ultimately this device was just money down the drain.

I had my doubts but this works. I was looking to shave less and improve the appearance of the skin on my legs. I would shave and you still see hair stubble. That has reduced greatly and now I could go a week without shaving. I also use on my upper lip and chin so far no issues. I’m happy with the purchase.

A bit painful if your skin is sensitive but it does work quite well

it worked fine for max. 2 months and out of the blue stopped working. I tried to return without success and of course didn't get my money back. If you were thinking on buying this product I'd suggest looking for better quality.

I bought this after buying the phillips lumea, I had to return two of those as they stopped flashing after about 3 weeks, I got a refund on the second one and was going to buy this straight away, but it had gone up by £20 overnight so I didnt bother! I really thought the lumea had done nothing until I stopped using it, I had only done one leg from the knee down to see if it worked, but shaving every week - in the winter!! before being able to use it i hadnt noticed a difference. It was only when i returned it and stopped the shaving that I realised I only had half the amount of hairs on the leg Id been doing.So after a few weeks when this went back down in price I bought it. And I have to say it is so much better than the lumea. A million times faster, and I can use it everywere - with the lumea I couldnt do under my nose, the side of my mouth, my ankles or even my shin (skinny legs) because there wasnt enough contact with th skin for it to flash.I dont really know how long Ive been doing this now, I used the lumea for 6 weeks and have probably used this one for about 6 weeks now.It has made a massive difference to the hairs on my legs, Im still using it once a week , there are still some hairs but theyre very slow growing now. I havent noticed a difference with my face, underarms or bikini line, but I only have about 6 hairs under each arm and on my bikini line after having proffesional laser treatment on them about 13 years ago, and it was because I noticed a few hairs starting to grow back that I bought this.edit: Ive now been using this for about 9 months, I do have less hairs on my legs, but it only seems to work on the fine dark hairs.The coarse dark hair- on my knees, underarms, bikini line and face are growing like wildfire! and Ive been using it everyday on my face!It hasnt got rid of any hairs, or even reduced the growth in those areas.

I have used this religiously once a week, with some success but it seems selective as to where it works. I have some hair free patches, but my face and underarms I can't see a reduction. I have been using it since June - so nearly 6 months. I am too scared to stop using it in case this is the week everything changes! If you are a commitment phobe, this isn't for you!

Wow. I have used this three times and have already seen a huge reduction on my legs. They’ve never felt so soft and sleek. Well worth the money. Not seen a massive change on my chin or under my arms (yet) but I’m confident seeing how well it’s working on my legs. Would 100% recommend.Update: after using for a year, my legs are pretty much hair free!!!! Highly recommend

I purchased this product at the start of June, and wanted to give it a chance to work before I wrote a review. However, I’m sad to say it hasn’t actually made much difference at all - even after using it exactly how the manufacturer suggests. I was so excited to use this product however feel let down by the price and results

Takes a Lot of attempts to completely remove hair but is working. I see bald patches.
