Stirs 32oz Liquid Culture easy peasy.
They are large enough to stir 32oz LCs on low to medium. They also work with smaller jars (1pint). They are strongly magnetic and the coating holds up to daily stirring. I havent had any issues with Sterilizing them or the coating pitting. They work well with my basic small stir plate.

Have used for 5+ years been using for mycology Liquid Culture prop. in 1/2 gal ball jars.
These work great, expensive, yet 'renewably reusable', and also just work. I use these in 1/2 gal ball liquid culture jars, and with simple 28 dollar stir plates. With the right setting, these kick up and make a vortex in 1-2 seconds, and don't get lost or tossed on my plates. 1" to 1.125" is the right for this application. These work fine and are reusable, or giftable, or tossable.
