Really fun and nice hobbie but be careful
Its a nice set with good quality tools and good wood but be careful of how sharp the knife is i recommend getting knife proof gloves for the whittling as it is very very sharp but overall great purchase

Knife is blunt
The knife is impossible to use- totally blunt and unable to sharpen. The wood is very poor quality and splits easily. I do not recommend.

Good beginners set, just need some skills now :)
I got this as I have a keen interest in anything woodworking - not much skill though! This is an ideal beginners kit - I have looked at others and this kit is more comprehensive than them - it includes the knife, 4 carving tools, a sharpening stone and the basa wood blocks. The only things in other kits are finger protectors (cots) and a pencil - I would suggest using some kind of finger protection - I have some knife proof gloves that I wear...Some instructions would also be useful or at least a couple of ideas to start with - I ended up looking at other videos to get come ideas - there's loads out there. My idea is to carve something that I can fill with resin (my other hobby). The wood is soft and easy to carve. I just wanted to try something simple to start so I used a stencil to outline the work 'Resin' on one of the blocks, then used the knife to start off cutting round the outline of the letters. It was a bit fiddly and I did make some mistakes. Then I used the tools to carve out the wood inside the letters - I wasn't too sure which ones to use where but found that it kind of made sense while I was working e.g. the V shaped one was great for getting corners etc.The letters all ended up different depths and the 'S' ended up bigger than the others where I took more wood out to cover my mistakes but overall it was fun and easy to do.With practise it will get better and easier but still, it's a great kit to practise on.

A good beginners kit
I’d recommend this for young adults, not children due to how sharp the knives are. I do think this should be targeted toward an older age range - maybe if cut proof gloves were worn and older children were supervised then it may be ok to lower the age. There’s all the tools and resources you need. You’ll also need a bit of creativity, there’s plenty of ideas online for beginners.
