Works Perfectly!
I bought this for when my daughter visits as she likes cold brewed coffee and this takes up less space than the special pitcher she had brought to my house which I sent home with her when I found out hers had broken. This fits perfectly in a wide mouth Ball jar that I have and she says the fine mesh on this insert works BETTER than the dedicated cold brew pitcher because NONE of the grounds get into the coffee. I store this in a Ball jar that I already had in my cupboard so it is far better storage-wise in my small kitchen AND, apparently, makes a better brew! I suppose it would also be great for cold brewed loose tea, or even to put aromatics in a tall Ball jar for flavored water. FYI: The filter holds about 4 oz. of ground coffee.

Wanna Cold Brew? This makes it easy.
This makes cold brew so easy. I have a case of Ball 32 oz. Mason jars, I think I bought at Walmart. The filter fits perfectly in and still gives room to cap the jar with the filter inside. I've brewed twice so far a 12 hour and 24 hour each non-espresso with 8 tablespoons of course grounds. Both have turned out great with a splash of milk and vanilla syrup. Worth the Money and very easy to clean.

Cold Brew requirement!
So, pros and cons. This filter fits perfectly in a wide mouth quart jar. The quality is great. It cleans easily and makes excellent cold brew. The two-piece canning jar lid fits over the filter. The top of the filter is slightly larger than the jar rim so you can easily pull the filter out of the jar. The only con is that the lid doesn't seal tightly with the filter in place so if it gets tipped it will leak, for me this is not an issue. I make 4 quarts of cold brew a week for my husband. I can use pretty much any grind in the filter. It is awesome!

Excellent part of my kit to make cold brew coffee.
I use this in conjunction with a 64 oz. mason jar and a medium sized disposable filter bag. I don’t make concentrate strength cold brew, but rather ready to pour coffee. I carefully insert the mesh bag into this filter and pour in 4 oz of coarse ground medium roast coffee. Then I pour 48 oz of water right through the middle of the open filter bag. I give it a thorough stir while pouring the water to make sure all the grounds get saturated. Once the 48 oz (1500ml) mark is reached, I tie the filter bag off and screw on the top. I’ve found that letting it sit in the refrigerator for 14 hrs is just right for our tastes. The cold brew comes out very smooth and full of flavor with zero acidity. Removing the grounds is very easy since it pulls out easily from the stainless filter. I’ve also found that running the filter through the dishwasher after each batch keeps it uncontaminated. This wire filter is a must for mess-free cold brewing.

Useful kitchen item
Perfectly fits one quart Ball canning jar for cold brew coffee. Does good job of keeping coffee grounds out of brew. Stainless steel. I anticipate getting a lot of use from this.

Excellent Quality
These filters do the trick and are well made. My method is a little different from most. Use regular coffee that is ready for the coffee maker (Maxwell House) or qrind whole beans (Eight O'clock) to a fine consistency (the point is, ANY coffee will work!) Use a quart WIDE mouth jar for the brewing, 2/3 cup coffee and fill with water, leave the filter out. Shake well and sit on the counter for 4 to 12 hours, I even lay the jar on it's side to begin with to get more coffee surface area exposed. Shake it a time or two during that time. In the evening I put it in the fridge for overnight, 24 hour total brewing time. When it's time to strain the coffee, place the filter in a 1/2 gallon Wide mouth jar and pour, very slowly, the quart jar of cold brew through it, use a tablespoon to remove the remaining grains into the filter. This allows the filter to sit above the coffee and drain. With the fine grains of coffee, it can take 5-10 minutes to fully drain out, so the larger jar is a great stand to hold it. I personally like the small fine grains in the bottom of my cup of coffee, but was surprised how much the filter removes this. Rinse out the quart jar that was used to brew and pour your new batch of cold brew back into it. This method makes a strong brew, you;ll have to figure out your proportions of how to mix it. I like 12 ounces cold brew, 12 ounces whole milk and nearly 2 tablespoons of sugar for a batch of finished, delicious product.
