very poor quality
Recorded two songs from cassette.Quality was ok but in both recordings had bits speeded up and missing. Therefore pretty useless.

Bad sound
I've had a few of these type of things and they all have the same issues. Either a buzzing, scratchy, or thumping sound in the background as soon as you hit the play button. Thier basically very cheaply put together, and don't get fooled into thinking thier anything like the Walkmans of the 80s or 90s, that's just a gimmick. If you want your tapes or vinyl converted pay a one off fee to someone with the quality equipment who'll do a professional job and get the sound you want. And shop around, and you'll find it's a lot cheaper than you'd think. These things are money down the drain

OK MACHINE BUT SOFTWARE IS NOT AS EASY AS PROMISED
I read some reviews before buying this and hoped it would be an easy way to convert my many tape audiobooks so I could listen to them on my iPod. The device itself is ok although not impressed that the USB cable supplied did not work, (I tried it on every USB port) luckily I had another one which did work but pretty poor of Ion.The Ion Tape Express seems to work ok, plays the cassette although the play button seems to stick a little. I tried recording with Audacity and the supplied software Ion EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter. The latter has a nice, easy interface but has the really annoying fault of flashing up the window to save and then going back to the stage before when I clicked on the next button to save the file. So I gave up on that and went to Audacity. This seemed to work OK, I could save an audio file to my computer but I have a problem trying to import any audio file (I tried several formats) with iTunes 12 on my mac. Unsure if iTunes 12 (which, from my internet research seems to be pretty flaky) or with my mac. Sigh. Will have to investigate further.
