Love these trackers - I have 4 currently, 2 of the XL for my Great Pyrenees and 2 of the classic for my hound mix and my goats. We have 25 acres so it's great to be able to see where the animals are at any time. The dogs are frequently off leash and my goats free range so I keep a tracker on them so I know where they are. I can see where they travel throughout the day and I get an alert if someone crosses the virtual fences. I have separate fences set up for the dogs and the goats even. The trackers themselves are great - never have an issue with them. The battery lasts about a week on regular and twice as long on the power saver mode. They fully charge in just a couple of hours. The app is really easy to use. When you open it, you can see all of your pets and their current location (and battery status of the tracker). You can easily get to each pet's history and see where they've been during any period of time. I uploaded a screenshot showing my goats visiting the creek behind my house frequently. You can also see health information for your pets. I like the sleep and activity monitoring, it's nice just to check every once in awhile. I also have the health alerts turned on and I've gotten alerts when one of the dogs was particularly exhausted after a lot of activity so they seem to work. Also, I'm fairly remote and tend to have poor cell reception. These usually only take a few minutes to connect to the tracker when I need live tracking mode. I've used other trackers in the past and these are the ones that we've stuck with. Highly recommend them. We've been using them for about 4 years now.

Update: Now in my 3rd week with the product and battery life is at 48% on one tracker and 55% on the other tracker with just the initial charge. My dog Tank has "ESCAPED" 3 times since then and I've been able to recover him within 10 minutes each time, except for once when it took me 30 minutes to find him because he kept moving and I kept driving past him, but I had him tracked the whole time. It can be kind of difficult to track them when they are on the move, but I use the tracker of the first dog who is with me, to guide me to the second dog on the run. Works pretty good. Thus far I'm pleased as punch with this product. I used to have to wait for him to come back, have a neighbor bring him back, or get him at the dog pound. So, the peace of mind alone is worth the price! Short Story: My units arrived on one day, my dog Tank ran away the next day, and the notification alarmed me the he was out of the safety zone within minutes, I brought up the search grid and found him two neighborhoods over and recovered his bad ass within 10 minutes of his great escape! Bravo Zulu tractive it proved its value within 24 hours of its purchase! Long Story: Both of my dogs showed up on my door step, Brutus (Belgian Malinois) 5 years ago and Tank (American Pitt Bull) 5 months ago, and in both cases I tried to find the owners but never could. So, my dogs are wanderers, runaways and accomplished escape artists from day one. They will get out on the lamb at any time because escaping is in their nature. Twice Brutus has disappeared over night in the forest behind the high school which is full of hungry coyotes where I sat in my car all night worried and crying with no idea of where he could possibly be, only to have him show up in the morning 9 hours later, tail wagging like he had done nothing wrong. Tank has run away now four times in the past month and a few days ago and I had to go on Ring.com to find him in a cage in the neighbor's house. Somehow he had miraculously lost his name tag so the neighbors had no idea who he belonged to and were planning to KEEP HIM had I not found him on Ring.com. A few months ago he was gone for two weeks only to show up at the dog pound with whooping cough sick "as a dog!" After the Ring.com incident I decided I had to do something so I bought the tractive dog collars for both of them on Black Friday to make use of the sale. I couldn't afford the premium service for both dogs plus the collars because that would have cost $406.00 that I didn't have at the time. I was concerned that the basic service wouldn't be adequate but when I thought about it I didn't really need world wide coverage, free replacement, dog tracking history, and the other bells and whistles. What I needed was to find these bad ass dogs when they pulled their disappearing acts, fast, efficiently, and precisely. They are way too big and intimidating to be running around on the loose and the coyote problem around here put them in constant danger the entire time they are out there. So, I chose the monthly option on the basic plan. I would suggest the company offer a monthly subscription on the premium plans as well, if they had, I would have definitely bought the premium plan. As I said above these trackers proved their value within the first 24 hours of my purchase as I successfully found tank so quickly that I was totally impressed. The virtual fence let me know when tank fled and it allowed me to track him in real time. It doesn't get any better than that. I've heard a lot about problems with battery life and that will be a problem if you are away from the safety zone (Home) that you setup with the virtual fence. If you are at "Home" the units go into a power saving mode that is incredibly efficient. Since my dogs spend the majority of their time in that zone I've had my units on and running for the past 6 days and they are both still at 80% battery life. I estimate the battery could last a couple of weeks in the power saving mode based on what I see now. I will continue to monitor but thus far I am very pleased with the battery life which is considerably better than my cell phone and smart watch that have to be charged daily. I can also say, if you are traveling with the dogs you could always turn the device off until you get out of the car with the dogs, this will extend the life. Cons: The upfront price is stiff for folks like me, especially if you have to buy two units. I bought mine for $59 each on sale which wasn't so bad, but the subscription price is tough because they want it up front on the premium plans, $144.00 each. The basic subscription is $15. I can absolutely see that I want the premium plan just for the tracking history alone, so I will be getting it when I can. I wish tractive would offer a monthly subscription on the premium plan. For that reason I am deducting one star. I wish the GPS real time tracker would provide directions to get you to where your pet is. Yes, it shows the precise location of your animal but if you don't know where Red Stone street is from your location on Brown Stone street, knowing where your dog is doesn't help you GET TO YOUR DOG. In my case I had a second phone that I was able to ask it to navigate me to the location where Tractive said my dog was. It would be helpful if Tractive could navigate you to drive or walk to where it shows the dog's location to be. Untested: I don't know how this product will work when I'm out in the bush but it does use GPS satellites, cell phone towers, blue tooth and radar mode to track your pet, so I will be testing to see how effective it is in the bush in upcoming winter months. But as far as using it in the city, I'm very pleased thus far. Overall: I like the damned thing. I think I might give it the fifth star back. It gives me peace of mind in knowing that my fur babies are okay and safe! I wish I would have bought this before I lost my beloved Brave Heart (Jack Russell Terrier) who was also a great escape artist. If I would have had this I would not have lost him a year ago. My heart is still broken at the disappearance of his sweet soul from my life. Daddy misses you Brave Heart and I pray you are well.

We absolutely love tractive. It's a must have along with a chip and tags. A chip is good however if you're Dog or cat decides to wander off and somebody decides to take your furry friend in then you're at the mercy of somebody doing their due diligence but with tractive you can chase them down right away and get them as soon as possible and keep them away from danger!!! There are other benefits to having it as well such as the health portion and the activity monitoring. The price is really inexpensive compared to the peace of mind you get! My wife would be devastated if something would ever happene to Buddy if he got away and he does like to take off. (He's just a puppy).. I also have it set up so other family members can also monitor his whereabouts if needed. The dog XL unit battery is really good as long as you have it connected to Wi-Fi in the safe Zone the battery lasts over a month however.. If it's not connected to Wi-Fi the battery will last maybe 2 weeks so keep that in mind but charging is straightforward pretty quick. The use of this app is also straightforward and continues to get better, it's pretty accurate on GPS however... If you wanted to track the unit within a safe Zone while its connected to Wi-Fi you are out of luck. If the Wi-Fi is on you would have to shut the Wi-Fi off to get the device to come online. I ran into an issue where buddy slipped out of his collar and his tractive was somewhere in the yard but not outside the "safe zone" I was able to successfully locate it using the Bluetooth range "radar" function however I couldn't connect to it until I was close enough so I had to walk around aimlessly in the yard until I finally connected it once I connected it it was really easy to find. In this case I didn't need to turn my Wi-Fi off but if I was having more issues that would have been my next step Do keep in mind once you're furry friend leaves the safe Zone it takes about a minute or so for the notification to pop up in the tracker to be online. I don't see that is an issue although it makes sense the tracker has to wake up out of power saving mode and then connect to a cellular network and GPS satellites, it's a process that has never failed us! These are one of those things that you will regret one day if you don't get it. It's essential!!!

I’ve had 3 Tractive collars now in the span of about 2-3 years so here’s my full input. When I first purchased the Tractive collar (I can’t remember the model) it was extremely easy to use, the app is easy to use, held charge for a long time, and pretty accurate location although sometimes I experience a glitch where it says my dogs have left the virtual fence when they haven’t. Ultimately, for price this tracker is great to use. Unfortunately I lost the first tracker and kept putting off buying a new one. Eventually I contacted customer support and they informed me it came with a warranty which allowed them to send me a new one free of charge (I believe model 6) just pay shipping ($5 maybe). Customer service is surprisingly very easy to connect with (although you do have to wait for a response to be sent to your email) and they are very helpful. I received the new tracker and purchased another one at full price for my other dog. When I purchased the adventure XL I used it until the battery needed recharged and when it came time to do so the charger cord wouldn’t work. I contacted support and they sent me a new charging cord free of charge minus shipping. Since then, I’ve not had any charging issues. Now that I’ve had 2 for awhile now, my only complaint is that only one of the trackers shows barking & scratching levels. When I reached out to support they informed me it was due to the model I had purchased. So just research which ones show that. Ultimately I rated it 4 stars due to having to wait for the new charger cord to arrive (took 3-5 days so not too bad) but I do highly recommend Tractive to dog owners. It’s affordable, easy to use, & pretty accurate. One minor inconvenience would be that you do have to pay a yearly membership fee as well as you can’t check activity or health levels unless you’re in range of the tracker(s).

Less than a month of ownership of the Tractive XL Adventure and this tracker paid for itself 10 times over. My dog, a very curious and energetic Blackmouth Cur who is an inside / outside dog at my house which is in rural Louisiana always stayed close to my house. She decided one night while I was out of town that she was going to go on an adventure, from what I can tell she sprinted 2 and a half miles away from my house into the woods, most likely chasing something. I got back the next day and immediately went to where her location was, at a neighbor’s house about 2 miles from my house. It turns out after chasing whatever she was chasing and realizing she had gotten lost she found her way to a friendly neighbor’s residence and made friends with them and their dogs. As I was pulling into their driveway she looked at my truck and ran to me when I called her. I thanked them for looking after her for me and had her load up in my truck for a ride home, a bath and a long nap that she needed after a night out partying in the woods. This was an interesting little ordeal for me but having the Tractive XL prevented a very long and possibly unsuccessful search for her around the area and allowed me to find her within 5 minutes of getting back into town. She was dirty, the tractive xl had dried mud on it, but it worked exactly as advertised and stood up to Louisiana’s forests and humidity. What I will say about this product, it is not a GPS fence, yes it will alert you if your pet leaves your house / the safe zone but it will do nothing to prevent it. I have another product for that. What this product is, is a GPS pet recovery tool that takes the search out of recovering a lost pet, and it does that exceptionally well with longer battery life than any GPS fencing collar. It also will take the Tractive XL a few minutes at times to recognize that your pet’s tracker has left the wifi safe zone and left the area, however for my purposes for this product this is fine. Long story short, think of this as a GPS dog recovery system, not an electronic fence like for example Halo collars are, however Halo collars have a battery life of around 40 hours, this collar sits in standby for over a month until it detects your pet has left the safe zone and then will keep on tracking for several days in GPS mode, more than enough time to find your furry friend and bring them home. If you’re worried about losing your dog and not finding them get this device right now, it may just pay for itself sooner than you’d expect, mine did.

I never write reviews, but this experience was too good not to share. We switched to the Tractive after a scary experience with an AirTag: our dog got out, and even though he turned out to be only 20 feet away in a bush, the AirTag just couldn’t pick him up. Within a week of getting the Tractive, he slipped out of someone’s home again — but this time I knew exactly where he was and got to him right away. Night and day difference. What I love most is the real-time tracking. It’s not just for the dog, either — since my husband is usually the one walking him, I can see exactly where they both are. More than once I’ve used it to go meet them mid-walk, or to swing by with the car when it’s pouring rain or too hot out and the dog’s decided he’s done walking. It’s such a relief to always know where they are. The customer service sealed the deal for me. Last year our dog got skunked while wearing his Tractive, and no matter what I tried, I could not get the smell out. I was ready to toss it, but I’d signed up for the premium plan with the device insurance, so I reached out to Tractive and had a brand new unit within two days — for about $7 in shipping. Between the tracking, the peace of mind, and the incredible support, I can’t recommend this enough. I’ll never own a dog without a Tractive on their collar again — and the premium plan is 100% worth it. Good luck with the review — hope it helps other dog owners like you!

This tracker does more than I realized when I first purchased it. The battery life lasts pretty long (1 week plus if it is in WiFi range, which most of the time it is). It monitors activity (daily, weekly and monthly) along with sleep and health stats. It has leaderboards per location, breed and global. If the tracker falls off you can locate it with the app IF you have battery strength left. When traveling the app does pick up and notify us that they have left home about 3 minutes after we have “left the virtual fence of home”. Also, customer support is great as we had to replace one each for our dogs due to a few issues. The only cons I see are…(1) band that holds to collar does not last as long as I feel they should, given we have large and active dogs. (2) I have a hard time at times getting it to LIVE track (3) the virtual fence can be off by several yards (like 20 or so which can be 60+ feet). All in all I would highly recommend to others despite the few minor cons.

I have a young Pyrenees that learned he could jump the fence. 77lb and 1.5 years old he is active. I purchased the XL for the battery life and extras. I initially didn't question the color (Mistake) and went about setting the virtual fence and getting him to wearing it. No problems with the first few days of learning it's pros and cons but soon ran into more cons than I had expected. The unit accuracy has a lot to do with the Wi-fi and cellular signals as this became apparent when I was rebuilding the physical fence and I watched Loki walk out and I was not notified. When I checked his location on map, he still showed in virtually but was 20' away from fence. Eventually I was notified of his exit and figured I could work with this to possibly improve. However, a few days later here comes Loki and without tracker so I got out my phone thinking I could find it and no luck. The tracker showed like it was in front yard, so I initiated a Bluetooth search and then began a grid search with no luck. Bluetooth kept saying not in range and lights and sound are useless outside. (Maybe put an apple Tag on it, hey funny but would improve finding as smaller but has better speaker (sound) function). I'm sure I will find this weekend (will update). The thing I should have realized is the color, pale green the same color as grass, who thought this through. People who buy this are not worried about the appearance of their animal but the ability to track. Orange or other bright color is a better choice unless the plan is to make people buy a colored accessory because they realize the color is a negative. I like the idea and potential but I'm not sure that it will work for me even though this is what a person in rural location needs. Tractive, please look to Tile or apple tag to improve the effective use of sound for this and please change the base color to something brighter. Mods planned as I will probably keep and update reviews on as needed basis. 1. Velcro strap attachment or pouch for collar (less likely to come loose) could be attached to unit and bright color 2. Definitely change color to brighter, I will look at possible nail polish or something similar. Don't think I can bring myself to buying cover for a brighter color as this seems to be add on plan. 3. I have a good Wi-Fi but may look at expanding (Yard is 3 acres fenced) 4. Will shrink my virtual fence until I know it will notify me when out. (will cause I'm sure increased false alarms but necessary). and finally, will look at competitors if can't get it to work properly. UPDATE #1- Well, I found tracker after doing a manual grid search. Light, and sound are useless (Note website says sound is set after speaking with Vets) Not sure what vets they spoke to but I turned sound on with dog in bed with me and could not hear it until placed my head next to his, As I said useless need to have volume control and let customer decide what's right, you don't need a piercing alarm but Air tag of Tile ring volume would be fine. The light is also useless as just a small pin light (needs work) and Bluetooth didn't show me location until I had already spotted at 10ft. So Light, Sound and Bluetooth are fine if you are 1-10 ft away from my observations. In other words, unless your dog is the size of a rat you should be able to see him at the ranges those function work. At this time, I'm still 50-50 on recommend and will adjust as I speak with tech at company on software or firmware upgrades. For the money I'm spending there should be better options for issues of lost tracker, With the current color scheme and other option to find you will be having to use your free replacement guaranteed. This is poor business sense (Unnecessary lost revenue) when a better strap, brighter color and better sound/light options are definitely low-cost fixes if it even would cost to change to hunter orange color.

Le GPS fonctionne à la perfection. Par contre l’attache en caoutchouc n’a pas résisté 15 minutes. C’est un appareil pour grands chiens, il faut donc composer avec la violence de leurs ébrouements.

Bought what should have been the highest quality one and after 14 months it will no longer charges. I spoke to them about their warranty and they offered to replace the unit, but then wanted me to pay shipping and import costs that would be more than the device itself. I will no longer be using this company and would avoid using them.

Il gps funzione bene, molto preciso anche nella posizione, fa tutto quello che promette, unica pecca la batteria che inizialmente durava 4 settimane ma dopo 3 mesi di utilizzo dura quasi 10 giorni, in ogni caso lo ricomprerei.

Very heavy unit for a dogs neck.. returned it, might be ok for a bull mastiff or rottie but not ours.
