Neil Young's Official Release Series - Discs 8.5-12 via Reprise Records. Young's "Official Release Series" continues with the next set of chronological titles to include: Long May You Run (The Stills-Young Band - 1976), American Stars 'N Bars (1977), Comes A Time (1978), Rust Never Sleeps (1979), and Live Rust (1979).

Neil Young still following his meandering muse, 1976-79.
Some of my favorite Neil Young music is contained on these five remarkable discs. Long May You Run (The Stills-Young Band). American Stars 'n' Bars. Comes a Time. Rust Never Sleeps. Live Rust. All five were released during a six-year romance with a very dear girlfriend from the day, so, perhaps, a sense of nostalgia may color my memory of them. Who really knows? For sure, however, they rank among the best of Neil Young's best. As ever, the great man follows his muse wherever it takes him, and on this go 'round it takes him to very interesting destinations. Long May You Run (Stills-Young) isn't the Buffalo Springfield stepchild the album art suggests, but it's worth the price of admission simply for Young's classic title song. American Stars 'n' Bars introduced the world to Like a Hurricane; 'nuff said. Comes a Time was a welcome return to country-rock singer/songwriter territory, and also featured an instant classic in its folksy title track. Rust Never Sleeps sounded bold in its day, and it still qualifies as one of Uncle Neil's grandest musical statements. Live Rust, an in-concert / film soundtrack, summed up his career to that point in exciting 'live' performance fashion. They all stand up incredibly well. The full five and highly recommended to fans of Neil Young and some of the best classic Classic Rock ever. If you can find a reasonably priced copy of the box, don't hesitate, buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Really Great
Really Great. It is always nice to hear music sung by the writer; even if they were not the one who made the song popular. Sign of a real musician.

NEIL YOUNG BOX 8.5-12
I've been waiting on this box set. First of all no bonus tracks the art work is a little thin which is the reason for only 4 stars. The sound quality makes up for all that's lacking in this set the sound is well balanced not too loud not to compressed in fact I hear no compression at all. If you're a Neil Young Fan Buy this....for the price it can't be beat....
