Warning, folks. I spoil a bit here and there. That said, hang on!This volume starts with Yuki about to sink her fangs into Zero. He claims it's just for the sake of keeping things calm, and that he has no feelings for her, but when Yuki starts, she sees inside his mind. Her previous human self is guarding a grave beneath a twisted tree, and a large black wolf (like Kaname's familiar) and Ichiru are there too. Zero asks her to stop looking into his thoughts, and eventually they part, with Yuki realising that the moment she sank her fangs into Zero's throat, her bloodlust cooled immediately. But Sara Shirabuki is sending out her new blood tablets to most of the Night Class, and when Aido heads into town, he finds more tablets there. He also finds his cousin Kain and Ruka, who are helping Kaname. Aido asks them to explain what Kaname is doing, but Kain suggests that Aido take the tablets for scientific analysis. Takuma is different from before, saying that his warnings to Yuki about the new tablets was unnecessary, and encouraging Senri to take them.Yuki is sure Sara is up to something, and when she is attacked by others in the Night Class, one of the other vampires bites her arm in a frenzy. But the moment he tastes her blood, he snaps back to normal, and is horrified that he did this. Yuki realises that her blood works as an antidote to the new tablets, and has the Night Class students who support her confiscate the tablets. But Senri reveals to Takuma that he has taken several purely so he can be with Takuma once again. The various Hunters are angry that Kaien Cross is trying to stop Kaname, who claims he will kill all the pure bloods and is currently targeting Sara. Yuki, while promising to protect Sara, still believes that Kaname has some plan that would support her faith in him. But even while she is trusting Kaname, Sara reveals a horrible secret to Zero-- even though Rido set Shizuka on her path to destroy Zero and his whole family, it was actually Kaname who released her from her cage so she could kill Zero's parents, turn him into a vampire, and kidnap Ichiru. And as Zero tells this to Yuki, both he and Yuki turn and see Kaname walking in.There's more relationship stuff, and background to some characters, but I really hadn't guessed that Kaname's plan included releasing Shizuka. Gonna be a long wait for volume 17!
