The volume that starts to show the series' teeth
After nearly going insane with her hallucinations, Yuki is taken by Kaname who reveals her mysterious past. In the meantime, Rido steps up his plan to regain his position as the head of the Kuran family.I really cannot say anymore about the plot without giving major spoilers. Heck even if you look at the COVER too much you'll spoil it for yourself! A lot of information is thrown in and the plot twists really change everything from here on in. The end result is a mixture of excitment and confusion. I was okay with the secret behind Kaname and Yuki's relationship, if you're familiar with Egyptian history and such you'll get it too, but also Kaname's explanation (that vampires aren't humans, and therefore don't follow their 'rules') also makes sense. The only things that got me puzzled were revelations surrounding Rido and the vampire politics. I'll probably go back and re-read older volumes to get more of a grip of it (easy to do as the next volume is not out til March) but it seems to be that the mythology is mysterious enough to pull us in, but too murky to completely get it.The trio (Yuki, Kaname and Zero) start to show their true colours too. Yuki's new self should be interesting to see in future volumes, Kaname continues to disturb me yet pull me in with his 'Prince of Darkness' aura, Zero disappointed me as he seems to sulk most of time in this volume, and shows little development from previous volumes, but I hope things improve from volume 9 onwards. The art still continues to be strong, with some beautiful imagery surrounding Yuki and Kaname, but it also contributes to some of the confusion. Some characters (and I'm talking major characters) look similar, so I was confused as who was saying what. Plus, again, some action scenes aren't as detailed as they couldn've been.Overall this a strong, yet confusing volume that will either make or break fans. Looking forward to volume 9.

Lush!!
Such a brilliant series, good twist in this volume. Beautiful artwork as usual ^^ Well worth the money. The thing I love about this series is that I can't ever really tell whats going to happen in the next volume, I wasn't disappointed :P
