Waterproofed our tent and my raincoat - very effective product
I bought the 5L can of Fabsil Paint on proofer. We decanted some of the product into 2 pots over a paint tray as the can isn't great for pouring from, it does spill. We erected the tent in our garden and put down plastic sheets to protect the patio from spillage, and then using 2 inch paint brushes we painted the Fabsil onto the tent. It is a thin liquid and does drip but we held our pots close to the tent and then painted really quickly from the top of each side of the tent to the bottom, starting at the front and working backwards. As we finished painting each section (between any seams) we rubbed it with a clean cloth, which spread the product more evenly than painting had. We had the perfect day for painting, dry with a breeze, we started about 11:30am and finished the first coat by 2:30pm, we took a break and then started doing the 2nd coat as the front of the tent was dry by then. we finished about 5:30/6pm. Our tent is a 4 man tent with a living area that you can stand up in and a bedroom area for 4 (we use it for 2 though). we had been camping on 21st-23rd July and the tent material had been soaked by the misty rain and we had little puddles inside the tent. We ordered this product and used it on 26th July. We then went camping from 31st July to 4th August and had some serious downpours several times during the week but as you can see from the photos the tent was definitely waterproofed, no water soaked into the material, it remained as drops of water which then ran down in little rivulets. We didn't have any pools of water inside the tent. We were extremely pleased with the results. Our tent was bought in 2009 and it's the first time we've waterproofed it which was probably well overdue. As the product had gone on really well, I decided to also paint the product on a long length raincoat and 2 pairs of waterproof trousers, all of which were quite old and no longer waterproof. I washed then dried the 3 items then hung them on the line with a plastic sheet under them while I painted on the product, wiping/rubbing them over with a clean cloth as I went. I used the raincoat last week and was really impressed with how effective the product was. It also did not change the colour of the coat nor the tent. It definitely is effective, we've probably used less that 2.5 litres so far but I have other stuff I am definitely going to be using it on. It was worth painting the product onto the tent etc, we had to work quick to prevent drips but it stayed wet long enough to paint the drips out.

It works. Simple as that.
Bought to re waterproof a bunch of coats for winter. Simply, job done, water just runs off. More my error, but after first application some seams leaked a little. But after a 2nd go at those areas, now watertight. Simply need to be thorough during application, and not scared to apply liberally. I apply with a small handheld spray gun, perfect to apply 1 handed while holding up sleeves etc with the other. Will certainly buy again when the time comes.

Easy to apply and quick drying, but awkward to pour from the large tin.
🏕️ The product is a clear, silicone-based waterproofing treatment supplied in a large tin with a black cap. It includes UV protection and is described as suitable for use on all fabric types. The liquid inside has a thin, runny consistency I recognise from previous Fabsil products. I applied it using both a brush and a mini roller on an extension handle, and it went on easily, drying quickly. Dispensing from the tin was awkward and caused a small amount of spillage. I usually expect to reassess waterproofing after a few months, so I will monitor how this performs over time. The cost appeared reasonable, particularly for the larger tin, though clearer product information would have helped in making the initial choice. On the plus side the tin was well sealed and has a handy carrying handle at the top. ✔️

Great product
Brought this for my horses rugs. Applied with a small roller which was quick & easy. Both rugs have been used in heavy rain & he has stayed dry. Will definitely buy again.

Caravan Awning waterproofing liquid - great stuff
This stuff works! This is the third or fourth time I've used this product to renew waterproofing on my caravan awning and it does the job. However, I would recommend you are generous in calculating needs, as I have always found I use more than the coverage rate suggests. Application instructions as stated on the tin are: Apply to clean dry fabric with a new paintbrush or a coarse spray. To ensure a uniform finish treat all of the article and maintain a 'wet edge'. - Immediately after application rub treated fabric with a clean cloth and allow around six hours drying time. Rain and dew must not contact treated materials until the proofing has dried. Coverage is stated as ' 1 litre of Fabsil will cover up to 18 sq metres of nylon, 7.5 sq metres of light weight or 5 sq metres of medium weight canvas ' I've always applied this on a fine, reasonably sunny, day with a gentle breeze. I've applied it with a paint brush and that may explain why I've used more than the coverage rate suggests; maybe a spray gives a finer control of the coverage? The sun and breeze may also have affected coverage. On the other hand, there was never any need to go over it with a clean cloth - the brush spread the liquid evenly enough, and most of the roof had dried before I finished applying the liquid to other parts of the awning. The liquid is clear. When applying it to the red and grey coloured wall panels of the awning, it was easy to see the 'wet edge' between treated and untreated areas. The awning roof is a sandy-beige colour so it was much harder to see the 'wet edge' on that. I suggest you mentally sub-divide the area into grid squares or panels so you can keep track of where you have treated. I recommend applying first to the most vulnerable areas of the canvas such as where roof poles come into contact with fabric, just in case you are run short of liquid.

Does the job well, for not a lot of money.
Used for a convertible car roof. Took two coats with a couple of dry days in between to properly seal the roof. Good beading now, ready for the winter. Half a tin did the whole roof on an A5 once, but had already planned to double coat after reading the forums for advice. For the money I think one whole tin to waterproof properly is good value. My roof is 5 yrs old and had seemed to have lost a lot of it's top layer waterproofing (I have only had it since Feb 2021) I also went all round the rubber seals with rubber treatment to prep for frost since the windows go down slightly when you open the doors. Anyway, fabsil is great. It doesn't really smell and if You put it on with a paintbrush it's a very neat and easy job. Would recommend over purchasing the more expensive convertible tailor made products. Some times You don't need fancy!

Didn't discolour the fabric. Very poor control and messy to pour it out, poor spout design.
I used a 10 litre pressure sprayer to completely drench Cordura motorcycle overalls with this, applying two coats. Applying with the pressure sprayer was fairly easy. However it was impossible to pour it out with any accuracy or control through the massive opening, which is at least an inch or more in diameter. This led to some wastage. My 10l sprayer has a massive funnel like opening of at least 5 inches across, in case you are thinking I was trying to pour it in to a small opening. The thin spirit-like solution guzzles out of the large 5l container. Trying to get some control by pouring slowly led to the solution pouring down the flat areas of the can to a corner of the can and then pouring out of that corner! A smaller spout would have given some control over the pouring out process. In the end I had to first pour it rapidly in to a large rectangular (cuboid) shaped flexible plastic container and then pour it out of a corner of that in to the spray container. There was still a very small amount of wastage but more control. Unless if I am doing something wrong, I can't figure out how there is no smaller spout design for this large 5l can. It does smell strongly after application for a few days, so best to do it in the summer unless you have a shed or a garage to air the garment or the item for a few days. I would not dry this indoors. I cannot notice any discolouration of my Jacket which has some luminous yellow/ green. The solution appears clear. Yet to ride with the treated items in the rain, so will update this later. This 5l can is definitely economical from Amazon as I managed to finish a small spray can of Fabsil really quickly, and only just managed to finish spraying the jacket.
