Weber Rust‑Resistant Outdoor Griddle Insert, Full‑Size – Pre-Seasoned Carbon Steel Griddle for Searwood & Large Spirit Series Gas Grills

I bought a Weber Spirit gas grill some years ago thinking I would grill on it because of the convenience over charcoal. Well, I haven’t used it much. I still prefer grilling over charcoal. I saw this griddle insert, and I wanted it. But, it seemed like a lot of money for a piece of steel. I finally bit the bullet and bought it when it went on sale. It’s awesome! It is pricey, but it is very heavy gauge steel, which makes it durable and even heating. It has been great for cooking bacon, smash burgers, and scrambled eggs. I think it is well worth the money, and now I have a use for my Spirit grill. Nice job, Weber!

Put this into my older weber grill that had the cast iron grates. Since we installed this we haven't gone back to the grates. We have been cooking salmon, steaks, pork chops, diced potatoes, chopped mixed veggies, brussel sprouts, bacon, burgers, eggs, pulled pork (Sous vide first and finished on the griddle), etc. This has been amazing. It's very easy to clean and maintain. The overall surface size works perfectly for the 2-4 people I'm usually cooking for. I also like that I don't have another large outdoor thing to store if I bought a whole separate griddle. The surface is really thick and sturdy so I don't think there will be any issues with warping. I have been using avocado oil to keep the surface non-stick.

This thing weighs nearly 30 POUNDS! 30 POUNDS!! Yes, it’s a huge chunk of metal, and you are going to pay for each ounce, but it will clearly last if cared for. Weber claims that the griddle is pre-seasoned but recommends two additional layers of seasoning for optimal results. Each layer of seasoning requires 30 minutes of heat at 450-500°F. The fit is very good, not excellent, but very good. There’s a good 1.5” of room horizontally and maybe 0.5” vertically. They might have left the room to allow someone’s fingers to fit underneath when removing the griddle, but I would have preferred full coverage. Still, the griddle has a high-quality matte black finish and distributes heat evenly. It’s a must-have, in my opinion. The amount of time I’ve saved from not having to clean underneath the griddle is worth all the money this thing costs :)

Fits my grill as described, have cooked bacon, smashed burgers, chicken, steaks on it so far. All came out great, and delicious! The burgers were better than in a restaurant, chicken was moist and had a nice search. And the steaks were juicy and very tasty. I may not go back to the grill inserts. I followed the directions on how to season the flat top, and it was easy. It is easy to keep it clean, with the right utensils.

If you are thinking about adding another grill. . . Don't. This is much better. The insert fits perfectly on my grill. Sears steak perfectly and bacon is a breeze. Veggies and fish don't fall in through. LOL. This is heavy duty. No problems.

I love this! Having had it for a while, I don’t think I’ll ever put the grill grates back on again. Everything I cooked on my grates I can cook on the griddle insert in less time, with more efficiency, and much less clean-up. I put off buying this for some time because of the price, but now I wish I had purchased it years ago.

Before getting a grill for my yard, I was stuck trying to decide between getting a grill or a griddle. This solved my predicament! It's a heavy griddle insert that allows me to easily swap out the grill top with the griddle top so I can cook breakfast eggs, smash burgers, you name it. Clean up is easy as griddles typically are. You can season it with pretty much any oil and as long as you maintain this well, it'll last you a very long time.
