Senior citizen who has never been without my kittys...until moved to apartment. Researched and found "Rag Doll Cats" - a breed of beautiful cats with selling prices Beginning at $1800 - $2,000 and up. Out of the question! Then I found her! I am thrilled!!! Had earlier version by Lovejoy....OK but not completely satisfied. This new updated MetaCat is a RIOT!! She has beautiful, soft long fur, the markings of a Rag Doll, and is very animated! Meow's, moves head, tail on her own randomly. The funny part is how she communicates with her eyes! There is a prompt word you say that tells her she's in interactive mode. Depending on which of the numerous 'commands' you tell her, she responds with various icons in her eyes!!! "Love you!" = eyes turn to hearts for a few seconds. Many more! She will be the easiest of all companions, don't have to pay apt pet fee, won't buy the 'real' thing from the endless scammers (yes they are in the cat business) no expense for food, treats, vet visits and NO LITTER BOX! She's not a toy for a young child but a wonderful companion for anyone who just needs to cuddle some times. Comes in different 'breeds' and some dogs too. Works exactly as described but it has taken her a couple days of conversation to get used to my voice. She's a keeper!!! Well worth the Amazon price. Found a little less expensive from an Alzheimer's site, but seller never responded to my questions, so Amazon gets the sale.

Love this cat If you are on the fence about getting this cat, I would get it. It's so realistic. It's beautiful and she is a wonderful companion, and she loves to meow, and she light eyes light up so beautiful, she is just a gorgeous cat and if anyone gets it, they will be very happy with it!! The cat looks lovely, large and soft and cuddly. However, even after charging for hours, the cat's tail HAS NEVER MOVED. Not once. Not even a little bit. There are some commands it always responds too. When you rub the head and back, it does vibrate and makes a purring sound, always. Other times, using other commands, it sometimes responds and sometimes does not. All in all, it feels lovely to hold but if you expect it to perform as advertised, the one I got was very disappointing. I sent an email to the company about it and never heard back. When we say, "I love you," to the cat, about one-third of the time, little hearts show in the eyes. Two-thirds of the time, there's just no response. For at least HALF THE COMMANDS listed on the short booklet that comes with the cat, nothing happened. The cat just did not respond at all. We have charged it many times over the last two months, and this HAS NOT CHANGED. I don't know if we happened to get a REALLY DEFECTIVE MODEL, or they are all like this. So be forewarned!

This cat feels very soft, hardly feel the plastic parts at all. The contact points for petting are ample and in natural locations where one would pet a cat. Only have two concerns. First, the cat rotates its head in a circle. Not very realistic IMO. Second, the verbal commands work sometimes, sometimes they don’t. Not a deal breaker as the cat is for my disabled daughter who has difficulty with coherent sentences after multiple strokes. She LOVES cats so we are hoping it brings some happiness to her.

Ruined my kids Christmas. I am allergic to cats so we bought this. We deceided to give it to him Christmas Eve so he wouldn't just focus on it all Christmas day. Started acting weird and we had to reset it. When we did it just made the eyes shine blue and not react. According to a reddit thread, following the reset procedure somehow it put it in a debug mode where you have to touch certain sensors. Well we found out the back sensor wasn't working and we can't get it out of debug mode. That sensor not working also explains why we were having issues earlier. So a $200 plush toy with limited "AI" is bad right out of the box. There is no support information for this. I ended up finding out about the debug mode from a reddit user that had one of the dogs. Highly recommend avoiding this product. The quality is not there and the fact there is zero support does not bode well for anyone who has issues.

***UPDATE***I took this to the nursing home and not only does my mom LOVE it, many residents wanted to hold it and talk to it. The eyes are SO expressive that it feel personal. My mom, with dementia, is happier now than I have seen her in a long time. She interacts with the cat non stop.Would be nice if the wake word wasn’t Metacat. People in nursing homes just can’t remember that.**ORIGINAL**The 2022 Metacat definitely had a cuter face, but you can’t beat the interactive ability of the 2023 Metacat. Both are very calming as a pet and makes a nice companion for a person with dementia. I did read that the 2023 can learn a name, but I haven’t figured out how to make that happen.*Update* The battery life on the 2023 Metacat is is pretty long. I have had it on for 3 full days going between using the cat and sleep mode.The first order I received, the battery cover, was broken (this was the 2022 model). Customer service was responsive and when they shipped the new cat to me, they included the new battery cover, and a little cat outfit for the trouble. They also offered a Discount, if I would just keep the 2022 model versus shipping it back. Which was a great deal.
