Why God Calls Us to Dangerous Places

Heart-warming revelation of Kate’s own heart
Though I didn’t agree with all the theology in the book, I was moved many times to hear Kate’s stories and her reflections on those stories. As a fellow missionary, it was encouraging to hear her remind me that joy and sorrow are mixed together as we leave everything to follow Christ. It was also good to be reminded that God works in us as He works through us. What a blessed privilege to serve as a missionary, though an even more blessed privilege for those who serve in dangerous places!

Must Read if You Are Interested in Missions
The author did a great job of explaining what it is like to work or live in dangerous places whether that is overseas or in even in your home country. I like her use of biblical stories to explain her points as well as her own stories of her experiences. One thing I really appreciated about her book was the chapter where she talked about how the going affects those that are left at home such as family and friends. What is it like for them? How do you talk about it with each other?

"Why God Calls Us Into Dangerous Places" is a an inspiration.
I was so blessed to be at the book signing of Kate McCords new book, "Why God Calls Us Into Dangerous Places". The book is so compelling and draws you right in through Kate's own experiences in Afghanistan and Biblical truths. It is a book that one can apply to your life if going into the mission field or in our own Christian walk wherever we live, walking where God calls us to be Jesus with flesh on in a hurting world. Get this book and use in your book clubs in bible studies at your churches. Kate is the real deal, she talks the talk, and walks the walk in honesty and truth.

Contagious Courage
Kate is a woman of courage which is contagious. She is a woman of love which is sacrificial . She is a 21st century missionary who walked the walk in Afghanistan and lived to proclaim with ebullience the joy and sorrow of that experience. Kate knows the heart of God and is able to bring the reader into that heart and to taste her rich relationship with Jesus.I believe she survived to tell this incredible story and motivate us to trust God's call when we may not believe we can. This book would make a thought provoking discussion book for any organization wanting to understand how and why to give support to foreign aid workers. I highly recommend it. She will challenge you and inspire you to play your own part in being called to dangerous places.

I loved the clarity that Kate McCord walks through each chapter.
Why God Calls Us to Dangerous Places is an important book for Christians in this current day and age of continued unrest. The dangerous places continue to exist and even are spilling over onto our door steps. How should we react? How should we respond to our friends or family who want to make a difference in these parts of the world? This book has valuable insight into why people want to work in these places, how we can respond, and how Churches can support their members who feel God's pull. As someone who has gone and worked in dangerous places, I loved the clarity that Kate McCord walks through each chapter, along with exceptional story telling she brings the reader through her journey as well as helping them step back and understand the importance of why it is necessary to go. A must read!

and this is one of my all-time favorite books. Kate writes well
I'm a reader, and this is one of my all-time favorite books. Kate writes well, and she does a great job of speaking to ALL of her audiences -- those who GO, those who SEND, and those who LOVE those who GO. We are considering a move to one of these places, and if we do that, we'll be buying this book in cartons in order to give away to help people understand us and why in the world we'd do such a thing. Kate expresses God's heart for people living in dangerous places like no other writer I've encountered. My wife and I read this together, and we cried at some point in EVERY chapter. Can't say that about anything else we've read.

Would you go?
Thoughtful and thought provoking. Kate McCord genuinely and sacrificially loves the people of the country where she ministered. Her writing raises hard questions about how best to reach out to those in dangerous places and acknowledges there are no easy answers, but there are great rewards in following Jesus there.

Inspiring and Well written
I have read and re-read this book. As a worker overseas, the thoughts on why we choose to risk are very compelling and encouraging. My life has been tremendously inspired through this book. I first read it right after losing my little boy to preterm labor overseas through tears. Risk is right when we are in step following Jesus for the love of Him.

Answers to hard questions
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reveals joy in the darkness of life. Having taught refugees from these hard places the descriptions of daily life there, and the dangers that go with it added insights that helped to understand their struggles with life in the first worldI recommend this book to those supporting people in these hard places, to those who have questions about the hard things that happen in life. It’s a revelation that the love of God can still be found in the darkest of days.
