Labor Saving Devices 53-315 Level and Template for Gang Box Installation

This is just a handy little jig for cutting in electrical or low-voltage boxes in existing drywall. The design allows you to get the box perfectly level, which can sometimes be a hard thing to do if you are working in a tight space, or at an angle to the hole you are cutting. It allows for single or double gang boxes. The construction is sturdy enough to last in the commercial installer environment. It has been sitting in my kit bag for about 6 months and it has not been broken. A good little product if you have the need, and are concerned with getting your boxes level/ plumb.

Used one of these in past jobs and purchased it for personal use. It makes single and double gang holes so much easier to trace. Worth the money if you are making multiple holes. It is faster and cleaner in the end.

It's been very handy to mark the outlines for single and double gang boxes or retro ring. Specially with the integrated level. Works really good when you have have multiples, shorting your time.

I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet, but I'm sure I will soon. Without question, this is a worthy addition to any network/electrical tool bag. Yes it's a niche type item as I'm sure you pros are like pfft, but I feel like this little tool will save me a lot of time in the long run. EDITED 1/27/19 Finally had my first opportunity to use this and I have to say it definitely made life easier. The built in level cuts out the need to have a torpedo level and the dimensions of the device practically make it a cut once and done tool. No more having to back and shave off bits and pieces of sheet rock until the box fits. Only thing I did decide is that instead of cutting on the outside edge of the line, it will probably be best to cut on the inside edge as I did feel like the thickness of my sheet rock saw left the hole maybe a smidge too big for my liking, but either way I'm glad to have this handy little tool in my bag.

Cutting holes in drywall 3 to 4 times a week and I never knew this existed. I saw a friend pull this Labor Saving Device out and draw his lines and cut a perfect hole. I had to have one.. It is so simple to use, find your center point off the floor, set the level bubbles and draw either one gang or two gang and cut. Perfect fit each time. Works perfect on most all cut in rings or outlet boxes.

The device is lightweight and well designed. The only complaint I have about the device is that the bottom edge of the device had a slightly rough feel. As other reviewers said it looks like it was broken off from a mold. However, a quick filing solved that problem. The overall levelness of the two built in levels are close enough to my portable level that it will not be noticeable (especially since it will be cut with a drywall saw). I used a low voltage box Arlington LV1-10 and Arlington LV2-5 as my reference (I purchased those from Amazon as well). It is important to note that the product picture shows an indent on 3 corners which did not appear on my version. Review my images for more details. My overall rating is 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. The -.5 stars is from the minor discrepancy from my level and the rough bottom edge.

I bought this as a gift and want to get it for myself. Usually I am using the old work box with a level trying to keep everything straight and draw the line. This tool appears that it would make that job much easier. I have not used it because I bought it for someone else but played with it a little and it looks like will do the job well.

I use this at work often. This makes single and two gang cut outs so much easier and faster. I highly recommend!
