Works Great When Used Properly
Couple things. When ordering, keep in mind, that this covers 1 acre, but the unit itself will be in the center of that acre. So if your property is 1 acre and you set this up in a back corner, it will not cover all of your 1 acre.I strongly recommend the scent lures Dynatrap sells. Toss one of those in the basket and it definitely wont disappoint. If setting it up outside in your yard, YOU MUST PLUG IT INTO A GFCI OUTLET! Can't stress that enough. If something happens and water causes it to short out, the GFCI will trip and kill power to the unit. Absolutely a MUST for safety. Also, if using an extension cord outside for it, I also recommend using a waterproof cover for the cord connection. It is two halves that screw together with a gasket that covers the prongs on the inside. I took it a step further and wrapped some super 33 electrical tape around the entire cover as well to help keep water out. Now, for some context, our house is on a 1.5 acre lot that is all woods, our neighbors have 2 ponds, and the woods behind our property have huge puddles of standing water, so yeah, mosquitoes were a huge problem.I got one of these units about a month and a half ago when the avergae temperature in Michigan was still in the low 50's and remained that way up until two weeks ago. I put one of the recommended Dynatrap lures in the basket and within hours of setting it up, it started to accumulate pesky bugs like biting flies, some mosquitoes that were out early, etc. As the average temperature over the last week or two climbed into the 70's, this thing really started to fill up. After about 3 weeks in the mid 50's and a week in the 60's/70's, it was about half full. However, I could tell where the spots were on our property that this was not covering. I thought, "we have 1.5 acres and this covers an acre, how are there this many spots it isnt covering?" Then it dawned on me that this covers 1 acre, but it would be in the middle of that acre. So if you have it offset to one corner of your property, it wont cover only your property. Make sense? So I ordered 3 more and new lures and lights for all of them for when it comes time to change those, and put them on the 4 corners of our property and holy crap is it a world of difference. Also, been using the small Dynatrap sticky night light things in our house for years and they work awesome too. These DT2000XL's and the night light sticky traps for inside the house are fantastic products and woyld recommend them to anyone!

Works ok, would be nice to have smaller screen to keep some of the moths out.
This device works pretty well, ~4 weeks after installing I had nearly an inch of dead mosquitos in the bottom. I also use an octenol lure pack in the bottom basket so my performance is probably not reflective of the device by itself out of the box, but mosquitos are attracted to Co2 far more than they are to heat or any wavelength of light so IMO an octenol lure pack should be considered the standard.I give it 4 stars because I feel like the screen over the fan could have smaller holes, or the open area on the top could have a mesh around it that allows most mosquitos in but keeps larger pollinators like moths out. I may modify it myself to try this, but as this is it will definitely take a bite out of your mosquito population if used with an octenol lure pack in the basket.

Best mosquito eliminator you can buy
This is the best way to eliminate mosquitoes in your yard. This does not zap mosquitoes. It attracts mosquitoes and sucks them in to a vacuum that pulls them down into a basket. The mosquitoes then die over a few days, eliminating their ability to lay new eggs. Over a few weeks, you will completely end the larva cycle and egg laying-reproduction cycle of mosquitoes. This is how you eliminate mosquitoes in your yard. It's genius! No more paying for spraying services that last hours or days at best. Also, I don’t worry about harm to animals that potentially ingest mosquito sprays. You run these 24/7 from just after the last frost in the spring and run them up until first frost of the fall. They make no noise. The ultraviolet purple light is subtle and does not light up your yard and is not obnoxious to look at. You do have to empty the basket every few days or you can smell the dying bug carcasses as they begin to rot in the basket. But the way they are designed you merely have to unscrew the basket, empty them out, hose them off and reattach them. It only takes about two minutes. This is without a doubt the most effective anti-mosquito gadget I’ve ever had. These really work! Even my neighbors in the adjoining yard said that it has eradicated mosquitoes from their yard as well. An added bonus! They’re even a better deal when you get them on sale. I would not get anything smaller than the one acre size. I will say they don’t really cover as far as they claim. I own two 1 acre units and my yard is less than 1 acre. But two keep my yard mosquito free, and I live next to a pond one one side and next to a stream on the other side of my house. I do replace the bulbs every year as recommended since they run nonstop from spring until fall. I’ve also purchased some of the CO2 scented inserts as an additive but don’t find these are necessary. The Dynatraps alone do the job.
