Pendragon formed in 1978 and over the past 30-odd years have built up a fanatical fanbase around the world, releasing 8 albums along with countless EPs, live and mini-albums. The band returned in 2012 with their new album, Passion, which was hailed by Classic Rock Prog as 'an album that has both verve and real panache'. This 2CD set collects highlights from throughout their long career to offer a perfect introduction to the band's sound. The set has been compiled by the band's frontman Nick Barrett, who has also written new sleeve notes for the release, detailing the history of the band.

Ideal introduction.
This album is an ideal introduction to the Pendragon sound. Personally compiled by Pendragon originator Nick Barrett. The CD runs in chronological order. The eleven tracks are taken from eight album releases dating between 1988 and 2011. Eleven, or effectively fourteen - "The Wishing Well" is a four parter - great sounding Prog-Rock tracks, on two CDs is brilliant. And at a running time of 129mins, great value. I saw the band back in May this year at their only UK gig at Leamington. The next day they were heading for a six week tour of Europe. I met them all back stage, in the green room, and shared a sofa and a laugh. Nick, for one, is a fantastic story teller and this reflects in his songs. There are some seriously meaningful songs on this compilation. I haven't stopped playing it yet.... Even at 2 hours plus! I can't recomend it highly enough. I've just got to start collecting the albums these tracks come from now.

Superb introduction
Guitarist and Pendragon mainman Nick Barrett hand picked all the tracks on here and has pretty much got it spot on. Strangely, there are no tracks from their debut album 'The Jewel', which was a fantastic album, so the tracklisting starts at album number 2 'Kowtow' and features at least one song from every studio album since. Highlights have to be the 2 tracks from 'The Masquerade Overture' album , 'Paintbox' and 'Masters Of Illusion', as well as the whole of disc 2, which is just superb, from the 4 part 'The Wishing Well' from the 'Believe' album and the 4 tracks from the more recent 'Pure' and 'Passion' albums, which feature Nick Barretts sublime, emotive guitarwork at it's best. In summary, this does exactly what it's title implies, and is a superb introduction to the band and their top quality Progressive rock.

Great band, great double cd !
Fantastic newly discovered band for me ! Having been a serious Genesis fan since 1972, I thought it was about time I looked around some other great prog rock bands. I found Mostly Autumn, Big Big Train, Flamborough Head and Pendragon, all absolutely brilliant ! This is my current favourite, I love it !

Does what it says on the tin - An excellent introduction to a band who should be HUGE! A wonderful selection of material from their albums over the years. Classic rock, yes, but oh so smooth too. Sit back, relax, turn up the volume and enjoy!
