Buy 80 Ways to Use ChatGPT in the Classroom: Using AI to Enhance Teaching and Learning by Skrabut, Stan (ISBN: 9798985553765) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: a great introduction to the subject - A great introduction with simple examples of how a prompt can generate a response. Also some simple ways that a lecturer can explain AI to students. Review: a seminal foundation in how to use ChatGPT in education - This is a great book and all educators interested in ChatGPT should read it. It provides LOTS of ideas for how to meaningfully (and easily) use ChatGPT in and out of classrooms, both for teachers and students. The author very sensibly highlights some key "rules" about using ChatGPT (although I feel these should have perhaps been presented earlier on in the book, as these will counter skeptics' use of ChatGPT). These include the ideas that educators should discuss expectations for academic honesty with their students, have a strong framework for information literacy, and to implement techniques such as having students document when and how they used ChatGPT in their research and writing process rather than to try and conceal that they've used any computer assistance.

Attention All Educators When I bought this book, I knew what Chat GPT was, but I didn't know how to use it. In one day, over a few hours, I sat down with this book and read it. At the same time, I opened up Chat GPT (because he told me how) and I had A BLAST DESIGNING THINGS FOR MY CLASSROOM. Before reading, I was skeptical of Chat GPT in middle school. I have walked away from this book confident that I can and will use Chat GPT in my classroom. The ideas are limitless. This is an amazing read. I highly recommend it to every k-12 teacher.

Good starting guide on prompt engineering to teaching and learning

This is a pretty low-effort book that does have some decent examples. The first 103 pages are basically copy+pastes of prompts for Chat GPT and its responses. Now, I will admit that the prompt writing is actually pretty decent -- if you're decent at inferring some of the techniques used or you just need example ways to positively interact with ChatGPT, then the book does a decent job. It would be nice if there was a reader-only webpage where you could copy/paste the prompts yourself, though. Transcribing a full page prompt might feel a little tedious. Chapters 9 and 10 are really good. I do wish Dr. Skrabut dug more into WHY these prompts work well. He kinda talks about it in the first five pages but after that ... If you are new to ChatGPT and are an educator, then this resource is a great introduction for you and I recommend it. If you already have some ChatGPT experience under your belt and understand the use of Verbs, "Act like" etc, then you may look for something a bit more advanced.
