This direct-to-video feature, which serves as a lead-in to the Disney animated TV series, continues the adventures of Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story films--and introduces the new supporting cast. Buzz battles the evil Emperor Zurg, who steals the "Unimind", a device that enables three-eyed aliens to function as a single intellect. The aliens, referred to as "LGMs" (little green men), form the support crew that keep Star Command running, but as individual thinkers, they're inept. During the course of this tongue-in-cheek adventure, Buzz acquires the sidekicks who form Team Lightyear: Booster, an oversized, overeager alien; XR (short for "Experimental Ranger"), one of the aliens' less successful robot inventions; and the inevitable spunky girl, Princess Mira Nova of the planet Tangeah. The two-dimensional, hand-drawn figure of the three-dimensional, computer-generated Buzz recalls the animated versions of live performers who populated Saturday morning TV during the 1980s. This adventure is typical of current kidvid: it has more special effects and sight gags than the cartoons of 20 years ago did, but the violence-free battles feel very tame. Much better than the 2022 version
Taps into the humour of the original Toy Story films and is a real underrated gem. Bit campy, yes. But has a solid heart - a gold one at that! And I still quote it to this day.

Definate for Buzz Lightyear fans
After reading some of the reviews about the picture quality of this dvd, I was unsure of what to expect but when my son and daughter got this out to watch, I was pleasantly surprised. Great dvd. My Kids thought it was a brilliant addition to the rest of their collection. Brilliant price.

It's "just" a cartoon
Bought this for my 2yr old son who is fixated on Toy Story 1, 2 and 3. Buzz Lightyear is his favourite character so this was an attempt to watch something else albeit briefly over Christmas. It ticked all my 2 yr old's boxes. For me, it was ok. It's not Toy Story, but it doesn't pretend to be. It is just a regular cartoon following Commander Buzz on his mission to defeat Zurg. Its noisy, brash and fast paced. If you're looking for another Toy Story type film, don't get this. If you want a noisy cartoon in a feature length all about Buzz, then definitely go for it.

Quite fun, but nothing like Toy Story
I bought this film because my 3-year-old son LOVES Toy Story. Unfortunately, he wasn't as gripped by this film - perhaps the setting was too unfamiliar for him to be able to relate to it. I thought the story was quite good, and there are quite a couple of funny touches. It might work for other people, but it didn't really do it for us. I read on Amazon that the graphics weren't up to Toy Story's standard, so I was ready for that. What really disappointed me was that the sound also lacked the depth and quality of Toy Story. Buzz sounds incredible on Toy Story, but in this film he's definitely not quite as impressive. This film isn't the most expensive in the world, so there's no harm in having it in your collection. However, you might find that the short people in your house aren't that interested in it.

very good buzz lightyear animation film , was enjoyable to watch over the xmas period , any child (or adult) that liked toy story and especially buzz and the little green men (cant remember what they were called!) , will love this , very funny .

A good buy for any buzz fan!! My son has this and loves it and I have since bought it for my friends daughter who has watched all the toy story films and is a big buzz fan! fast delivery, overall a good buy and good price
