TimexWomen's Essex Ave 25mm Watch

I bought this watch after two months of shopping, warily expecting the issues other reviewers mentioned: doesn't keep good time, too shiny, hard to adjust the band. I thought at least it's so cheap I can get another if it's no good, and I liked the listed features.For my watch at least, none of those issues were true. I've been wearing it since it arrived two days ago, and the time it keeps seems perfect (and it's easy to read, with the clear yet subtle gold dots for each minute).Appearance: the finish is exactly what I was expecting--shiny, polished brass--and I like it. It doesn't seem too bright or tacky to me. It's simple, classic-looking, and elegant. I like the quiet rainbow sheen of the mother-of-pearl dial, and I love that the numbers are in gold instead of black or some more obvious shade.As far the fit and adjustment: I have small wrists (6 1/8" around, or .15.3 cm), and the band nearly fit out of the box. I didn't like that it slid around, so I took out three links using a tutorial from The Watch Prince>Info>"Removing a Link: Expansion." I had no problems making this simple adjustment, but I do have some experience making jewelry and fixing sewing machines, so I'm familiar with adjusting tiny metal bits. I also had two pairs of precision needle-nose pliers. If you don't have a tool like that, it would be hard.Based on the proportions in the picture, the watch is smaller than I expected, even after holding up a ruler to see what a 25.5 mm case and 12 mm band would look like. Quite flattering on my small frame. I think the pictured watch has had the band shortened dramatically.The tick is audible if I put it up to my ear but otherwise I have not noticed it (I have no noticeable hearing loss).The practicality features are wonderful. The backlight works well: you push in the stem (the knob for setting the time) and the light glows. As soon as you release the stem, the light stops. I love that there are numbers on every hour marker, and thin black lines on every minute, and all without sacrificing beauty.The expansion (spring) band is also convenient, although I prefer the look of regular link bands. I was planning to buy a regular metal band for $10-20 and replace it myself, but now that I'm wearing it, I'm very happy with the original band.Highly recommended.

Got it for my mother who wants a daily driver wrist watch, reliable and affordable.This watch for the price is amazing, beautiful, simple and does it very well what it has been designed to do, tell what is the exact time !

Being retired, this blew my budget for the month, but Timex has always been my reliable go to. Must wear a wristwatch as I’m now bedridden & it’s hard to see our wall clock. I also like the “press for backlight” feature, which I need after lighs out in the room. Also know this very easy to read (but just the right size of a nickel) will be reliable for years. Recommend!

I like the look of the face, the size is good and it seems to be keeping accurate time. The strap is suitable for my 6.5” wrist, but it is a bit stiff and a little uncomfortable. I ordered the watch with embossed strap, and the strap says it is embossed, but it definitely is not. It is also not completely smooth so it just seems like a bad embossing job. I bought it at a very reasonable price as a “like-new” item that had previously been returned by another buyer and will keep it for this reason.

Good little basic watch.

I bought this watch, and one which was all silver (also Timex T2P2979J that Amazon sells) at the same time. The other one has a perfect snug fit for my 6 inch wrist which was nice, but it wasn't as easy for me to read the face (even though that one is labeled Easy Reader) as this one is. So, I'm keeping this one and returning the other one. The fit on this one is a lot looser, and I do have to wear it up about one inch higher than usual, but I'm okay with that and it does stay snug in the new placement. If you have a wrist smaller than 7 inches, you might want to reconsider ordering this if you are expecting a snug fit.The expansion on this one stretches very easily for taking on and off which I also like, the other watch was tighter for removing. However, this watch arrived with the battery tab already pulled, which I did not like. I prefer to remove the tab myself, which assures me that I am the first one wearing it. I have no idea now whether Amazon gave me one that was returned, or if they make it a practice to remove the tabs before sending. I bought this directly from Amazon and not from one of the other sellers, (even though the Amazon watch was a few dollars more) just because I prefer working directly with Amazon if I might return a product.I spent hours and many days before limiting my choices to these two watches, and I am happy with my final decision. The gold is softer than what is shown in the picture, if you watch the video you will have a better idea of how beautiful it is. I would certainly recommend this watch to a friend or family.
